Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of English who can also take responsibility for Literacy across the whole school. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach A-Level English for the right candidate. Additionally, the role includes leading the development and implementation of literacy initiatives across the entire school, promoting literacy as a fundamental skill for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to engage students and foster a love of literature and language.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and resources.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a whole-school literacy strategy.
  • Provide support and training to staff on effective literacy practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of literacy initiatives on student outcomes.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events, promoting a positive school culture.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • A degree in English or a related field.
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary school level.
  • Experience in leading or coordinating literacy initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and educational excellence.
