The role
This is your opportunity to join our dedicated Tax Controversy team, which routinely advises and represents multinational companies in managing and defending tax disputes at all administrative and judicial levels.
The team works with multinational corporations, privately owned companies, partnerships, limited liability companies, high-net-worth individuals and trusts and estates in all aspects of sophisticated tax disputes and criminal tax matters around the world.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with our international offices and colleagues in neighbouring fields such as criminal law, employment law, regulatory law, IP law and corporate law, which allows us to provide comprehensive and solution-orientated advice when representing our clients. We work as one team, combining our knowledge and experience to deliver the best solutions for our clients.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working as part of our highly regarded global team, candidates will enjoy a broad diet of work that will cover complex tax controversy matters including (but not limited to);
Tax and transfer pricing audits, enquiries and investigations
Pre-audit strategies and post-audit proceedings
Tax criminal proceedings and in tax‐related liability proceedings
Full-service assistance in connection with VAT, Customs and Excise Duties, Income and Corporate Tax disputes, including negotiating successful settlements and appealing assessments at every level of tribunal and court
Advice on voluntary disclosure of tax evasion and disclosure submissions
Negotiations with tax authorities on tax rulings and advance pricing agreements and in mutual agreement procedures
ABOUT YOU
We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 2 – 4 years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role.
The ideal candidates will:
Have a professional qualification in tax, accountancy, or law
Have experience working in a professional tax environment, ideally with experience in tax controversy
Possess strong technical skills, with an international awareness and focus to their work
Be able to demonstrate an excellent academic record and the ability to manage more junior team members
Be able to create and deliver sustainable, high quality client service whilst also considering client’s wider business objectives
Be keen to get involved in business development
Be able to handle multiple priorities, working to sometimes conflicting timescales in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, internally and externally
