Job Description
The position:
We are looking for a full-time Systems Manager with experience of planning, coordinating, and directing IT and systems activities. TNEI is growing rapidly, and the successful candidate will help to guide the business through some of the IT challenges associated with our transition from a small to a medium sized business which operates all over the world.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
· Developing and implementing the long-term IT infrastructure and systems strategy.
· Ensuring year-on-year progress in achieving strategic goals.
· Collaborating with various teams to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective IT and system solutions. This includes the ongoing development, improvement, and integration of existing systems.
· Defining and implementing IT policies, procedures, and best practices that conform to industry best practice, comply with legal and regulatory requirements in all countries we operate, and ensure compliance with client requirements.
· Taking a proactive role in developing robust infrastructure and data systems, by critically reviewing systems at regular intervals and mitigating against hardware/software and data risks.
· Involvement in key IT and business projects, either as a project manager or participant.
· Ensuring the security of the IT and data infrastructure, including compliance with PCI, GDPR, and handling external security risks.
· Overseeing IT service desk and support, IT and data security policies, software licenses, third-party contracts, IT hardware and infrastructure, budget management, and data reporting systems.
· Manage and support the network, including routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, and ensure the smooth running of all internal systems and servers, including cloud services, e-mail, printers, telephony etc.
· Design and implement new processes to improve the efficiency of the company’s IT systems.
· Manage all IT staff and ensue they are working effectively and developing as employees.
· Oversee and organise the purchasing of all hardware and software, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Requirements:
Essential requirements include:
· University degree in computer science or equivalent qualification with relevant experience.
· Significant experience in delivering IT support in a commercial environment, including managerial roles.
· Extensive technical background across IT systems, software and hardware.
· Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities, combined with excellent communication skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
· Excellent knowledge of cyber security considerations and best practice, including GDPR / Cyber Essentials.
· Strong working experience of networking including Firewalls, VPN systems; and,
· Working knowledge of Microsoft systems and technologies including Office 365.
· Certifications to Microsoft MCSA/MCSE level or equivalent.
· Proactive approach to seeking opportunities for technological service improvement.
· Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
· Demonstrated project management skills.
· Exceptional customer service orientation.
Desirable requirements:
· Experience with AWS.
· Experience with ISO/IEC 27001.
· Programming language familiarity in Python, Laravel on LAMP stack, php and mysql.
· Experience of working within a growing business that works internationally.
· Knowledge of databases and data model concepts.
· Membership of a professional body such as the BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT).
