Systems Engineer - Low Latency Trading

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a Trading Systems Engineer to join our growing Trading Systems Infrastructure team. This team builds and maintains trading infrastructure hyper-optimized for low-latency, operating systems, automation software, and development tools that allow our trading strategies to run worldwide 24/7. As Systems Engineer, you’ll work on projects focusing on our real-time production trading environment and tackle problems that require high availability, high throughput, and low-latency solutions. You should possess a passion for coding and automation, along with the ability to handle challenging technical issues within a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
Plan and execute technical projects to make our Linux trading systems (hardware, network, OS, etc.) faster, adaptable, and more maintainable
Manage and optimize worldwide trading infrastructure
Automate and troubleshoot a broad range of technical infrastructure
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
Operate and upgrade system installations
Deploy, configure, and test internal and external applications
Performance testing and tuning
Script solutions to automate repetitive tasks
Work with vendors to resolve issues
Qualifications
7+ years of relevant experience supporting a live trading environment
Expertise in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux systems, from hardware and kernel to applications
Experience with configuration management tools, particularly SaltStack but Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or CFEngine are also a plus
Python programming experience focusing on automation and integration
Advanced shell (bash) scripting experience
Experience managing and debugging production services
Strong communication and organization skills
Experience and knowledge of Debian/Ubuntu is a plus
Ability to manage projects efficiently
Architect-level cloud experience in AWS or GCP is desirable
