Job role : Systems and Database Analyst

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Systems and Database Analyst to join our Systems team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is self-motivated with a strong work ethic looking to join a supportive and rewarding business environment. The role involves analysing, designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems and developing software applications.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in database management systems, software development, data analysis, and systems integration. They will work closely with teams across the Harlow business to understand business needs and develop effective solutions to optimise data management and system performance.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Systems and Database Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Harlow’s growth. Your responsibilities will cover:
Software Development:
Develop and maintain custom software solutions to address specific business needs.
Write clean, efficient code using programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
Collaborate with software engineers and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver high-quality applications.
MIS System Management:
Administer and optimise our Management Information Systems (MIS).
Ensure seamless integration of MIS modules across departments.
Provide user training and support for MIS applications.
Monitor data integrity and troubleshoot any discrepancies.
Database Management:
Design, implement, and maintain databases (e.g., MSSQL).
Optimise database performance, ensure data security, and manage backups.
Create and modify database schemas, tables, and views.
Write complex queries and stored procedures.
Report Writing:
Generate regular and ad-hoc reports based on business requirements.
Analyse data trends, identify insights, and present findings to management.
Utilise reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to create visual dashboards.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define report specifications.
General IT Support and Networking:
Respond to user inquiries, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and provide timely technical assistance.
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and network devices.
Collaborate with colleagues to resolve network connectivity and security-related concerns.
Monitor network performance, diagnose problems, and implement necessary fixes.
Manage and process customer supplied data for direct mail projects within current GDPR standards.
Provide assistance to shop floor workers when they are unable to resolve software related issues.
Essential Requirements:
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Proven Experience in software development, and database management.
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., VB, Python, Java, C#).
Familiarity with MIS systems and their implementation.
Strong analytical skills for report writing and data analysis.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding of Visual Basic programming language is beneficial while experience with MSSQL Server databases, Quadient Inspire Designer Software and Crystal Reports is desirable but not required as training will be provided.
