Our client seeks a versatile and deadline-driven writer to join the Creative Writing Strategy team. In this role, you’ll help our client's members navigate a sea of content by summarizing movies and television shows with concise, creative and engaging product copy, as well as work on promotional text assets.
This role is perfect for an omnivorous generalist who loves to ideate on language, is passionate about pop culture and thrives on collaborative editing cycles. This requires a writer who can tackle many assignments with enough creative energy to make each synopsis sing. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer/editor who is an expert on media and entertainment — we are particularly interested in writers who have proven proficiency in writing and editing world-class creative content in English.
This is a 4-month contract role, offering up to £45 per hour (40 hrs a week). This position is UK remote.
Responsibilities:
● Write synopses about movies and TV shows in English. A typical day might include writing a number of synopses a week — everything from popular action movies to low-budget indie films.
● Work closely with assignment editors overseeing the workflow to ensure that you’re paired with the right titles and that your copy meets the needs of the writing brief.
● Embody editorial principles to create accurate, inclusive and creative synopses that are nuanced enough to resonate with different audiences.
Requirements:
● Full native proficiency in a Central European Language (preferably Polish) or a Sub-Saharan African language, and a professional-level knowledge of speaking, reading, and writing in English
● Knowledge of Arabic or Turkish is not essential but highly desired as an addition to the above.
● Experience writing or editing articles, blog posts, reviews, or feature stories about film and TV
● Mastery of AP style and attention to detail
● Research skills to help you gather context about
titles and quickly synthesize information from a variety of sources
● A selfless approach to contributing to a world-class editorial team
● Eagerness to embrace a culture of candid feedback
