This role is HYBRID
It is home based for 2 days per week and you must be willing to commute 3 days per week to an Amazon corporate office. Reporting directly to the Travel and Events Sustainability Manager

We're seeking an exceptionally motivated and talented professional to join our travel and events team as a Travel and Events Sustainability Specialist. This unique role is ideal for someone passionate about sustainability in travel and events and thrives learning new skills and developing knowledge. The role will report to the Travel and Events Sustainability Manager and work across Global Travel and Events and broader Amazon organizations to support sustainability goals and objectives.
The Travel and Events Sustainability Specialist will have two focus areas, Business Travel and Events CO2 emissions (Scope 3.6) data analysis and Meetings and Events sustainability strategy.
As part of the data analysis role, the successful applicant will be responsible for Amazon Travel and Events CO2 emissions data analytics and manage the Travel and Events decarbonization glidepath. The ideal applicant has great data analysis skills, the ability to create compelling reports and an ability to translate and effectively communicate data stories to a wide range of Amazon teams. The successful candidate will collaborate with sustainability teams to support Amazon's Net Zero strategy, carbon reduction commitments and reporting performance under mandatory frameworks and regulations. This role serves as the SME on Scope 3.6 emissions reporting and analytics on behalf of Amazon Travel and Events.
The Travel and Events Sustainability Specialist will also provide support the Meetings and Events division with their sustainability strategy and develop decarbonization solutions for Amazon Meetings and Events. The successful candidate will lead Meetings and Events sustainability education program by creating informative sustainability learning content and be a dedicated resource to support Amazon’s Meetings and Events on their sustainability strategy.
Key Tasks will Include:
Strategic Planning - support the Travel and Events Sustainability Manager with the development and execution of business travel and events sustainability strategies and initiatives across Amazon businesses. Contribute to the production of white papers outlining recommendations for new programs and strategies in both Carbon Data Analysis and Meetings and Events.
Data Analysis and Report Creation - create compelling reports and apply an analytical approach to make actionable recommendations that support Amazons Net Zero goal, including forecasting and Glidepath creation. Manage and maintain an existing sustainability visualization dashboard and actively delivery dashboards to Amazon business units and sustainability teams.
Stakeholder Management - collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Sustainability, M&E, Customer Experience and Learning, Category Management, Event Tech, Travel Tech, Finance and Data Teams). Produce sustainability insights and data-based narratives and effectively communicate decarbonizing strategies to Amazon Travel and Events leadership and individual business units.
Continuous Improvement - develop action plans on sustainability innovation across the Meetings and Events program by identifying areas of improvement and confidently presenting solutions to leadership. Identify and support project rollouts for new tools and process changes that drive innovation in Meetings and Events Sustainability program.
Supplier Management - work with Amazon M&E suppliers to partner and innovate in the Meetings and Events Sustainability space.
Engagement - create engaging training and education content for M&E planners on how to plan and execute purposeful meetings and events that focus on minimizing the environmental and social impact of their event.
Industry Knowledge - stay abreast of evolving ESG reporting frameworks, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance, specifically on Scope 3.6 emissions in Travel and Events.
Key Skills Required:
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills - full professional proficiency in English. Ability to write and present compelling business cases to influence and persuade. Ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences, convey key sustainability insights from analysis and work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
A strong affinity for data – high competency in Excel and other analytical software, with the ability to produce structured, concise, and meaningful reports. Strong attention to detail with an ability to identify anomalies, deep-dive when inconsistencies arise and own issues from start to finish to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
A calm operator – able to keep a cool head and prioritize while working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment, global environment. Ability to work effectively and autonomously in a self-motivated manner.
A change agent - desire to learn new technologies and be challenged by new initiatives. Curious and enthusiastic mindset with a willingness to challenge the status quo.
A passionate sustainability advocate - Competence in corporate carbon foot printing with experience or a willingness to learn Scope 3.6 accounting and analysis.
Experience Required:
Good knowledge of existing and emerging ESG and Sustainability measurements and reporting frameworks.
At least 5 years’ experience working in the business travel, meetings or events industry preferred.
Previous experience in data dashboards and data visualization.
Previous experience in Sustainability consulting will be a plus.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Travel Management, Event Management) preferred
