*Sustainability and Environmental Engineer**Hours of Work:*Monday – Friday 9 - 5*Role Definition:*As our Sustainability and Environmental Engineer, you will support PPG Shildon Aerospace to develop and implement strategies and programs which will help us to realise ambitions commitments around climate change and resources. As part of an exciting and dynamic time for PPG, you will play an important role in shaping and understanding the future trends and issues that will mean most to our business and the customers we serve.*Key responsibilities:*•Spearhead the development and evaluation of Sustainability strategy, setting targets and plans in collaboration with stakeholders.•Establish expertise in sustainability and serve as a strategic advisor to the Plant Manager, SLT and wider EMEA EHS Team.•Conduct a gap analysis for ISO 14001 feasibility across the organisation and oversee implementation.•Foster a sustainability community, empowering representatives to drive sustainability programs and foster innovation throughout the plant.•Promote and raise awareness across the business of the impact of emerging environmental issues. •Be on top of relevant changes in the sustainability landscape including latest thinking (e.g. within publishing, academia, government etc)•Lead the planet to meet sustainability goals and drive continuous improvement.•Collaborate on sustainability communications and compliance with environmental regulations.•Maintain a log of projects undertaken by different departments and regular follow up, being able to challenge and add recommendations to the project.•Ensure that projects adheres to the most economically and environmentally friendly methods possible.•Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy•Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation.•Direct and supervise impact assessments to identify, evaluate and reduce our environmental risks and financial costs to the business.•Collaborate with teams on ethical trading and supply chain sustainability.•Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical, and social responsibility and address any issues arising.•Develop and implement environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the organisation on the environment.•Implement standardised reporting on key sustainability metrics.•Develop and implement sustainable sourcing schemes, including audits and KPIs.•Facilitate coordination and communication between all departments and ensures all information has been well transmitted and understood by everyone.•Responsible for relationships with partners, suppliers and other key stakeholders related to the sustainable development•Responsible for the creation, development and implementation of environmental strategies, policies, and action plans.•Be the pioneer on sustainable procurement for all goods and services.*Personal specification:*•Demonstrable experience working in sustainability and the environment•Good understanding of major sustainability disclosure frameworks (such as GRI, SASB, CDP, Ecovadis)•ISO 14001•Experience in supporting projects to understand and improve environmental and social supply chain impacts. •A positive change champion for DO & CO in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adaptability.•Ability to influence different departments to suggest, implement and track more efficient processes.•Have a working knowledge of corporate sustainability reporting rules•Meticulous attention to detail and precise record keeping skills•Build strong relationships with stakeholders, working to create a one team approach, encouraging others to be at their best when on projects with you.•A clear and engaging communicator. •Strong written and verbal English.•Self-motivation and demonstrates high levels of resilience.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:* Bereavement leave* Canteen* Company events* Company pension* Cycle to work scheme* Discounted or free food* Employee discount* Employee mentoring programme* Enhanced maternity leave* Enhanced paternity leave* Financial planning services* Free flu jabs* Free parking* Health & wellbeing programme* Language training provided* Life insurance* Matching gift scheme* On-site parking* Paid volunteer time* Private dental insurance* Private medical insurance* Referral programme* Sabbatical* Sick pay* Store discountSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Monday to Friday* No weekendsSupplemental pay types:* Bonus schemeExperience:* sustainability management in a manufacturing environment: 3 years (required)Licence/Certification:* PRINCE2 Certification (preferred)Work authorisation:* United Kingdom (required)Work Location: In person
