Support Worker for Young Person

SAXMUNDHAM/ SUFFOLK

Full time positions available

Shift pattern negotiable

£12.27/hr +

An exciting opportunity is available to join a support worker team in Saxmundham, Suffolk, caring for a 19 -year-old young man. The ideal candidate will have experience in caring for young people or adults with disabilities. The role is best suited to someone who is energetic, a team player, has a good sense of humour, and has a professional and responsible work ethic. Ideally, the candidate will have a clean UK driving licence.

The client is looking for a support worker who will assist him in his daily activities, physical therapy goals and promote his safety and independence. Social and recreational pursuits are an important element of the client's care, as he enjoys socializing with friends, going to concerts and attending social clubs.

The Client

The client is a friendly and outgoing 19-year-old Male, who is a nonverbal communicator and a wheelchair user. He is dependent on his support workers to promote his safety and assist with all the activities of daily living.

The Role

The role includes providing personal care, administration of medication, assistance with nutrition, physiotherapy and adhering to manual handling requirements.

The candidate will build an appropriate rapport with the client, advocate for privacy and dignity and promote the client’s independence and psychosocial needs, as well as provide a high standard of therapeutic support, in line with the relevant care plans.

Full training, support and guidance will be provided from the Case manager who will oversee the Care Team.

Skills required:

Experience working with young people/ adults with additional health and physical needs.
Experience in the safe use of manual handling equipment.
Reliable, punctual, professional and friendly.
Excellent communication skills, a caring approach, with good initiative and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
Flexibility to occasionally adjust or increase hours in accordance with the client and family’s needs.
Must be fluent in English - both written and verbal.
Clean driving license
Satisfactory DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK- (sponsorship not available)
