There’s no better place to develop or transfer your skills and build a fulfilling career.About this role…Prevention services support vulnerable people by providing them with skills, housing advice, accommodation, and tenancy sustainment support. All these services to help people transition towards leading independent lives.We are looking for a Support workerto join the team atLewisham IHASS (Intensive Housing Advice and Support Service) team. The Lewisham Accommodation for Ex-Offenders programme (AFEO) will support people who have involvement with the criminal justice system and who are housed in PRS accommodation, to sustain their tenancies. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills and has a passion for supporting vulnerable adults.You will:Carry a caseload of up to 30 people.Prevent homelessness for people with tenancies at risk in the community via advocacy and mediation work with landlordsSustaining Temporary Accommodation placements and increasing tenancy sustainment outcomes ex-offenders in the private rented sector accommodationMaximising the income of those referred to the service through a number of measures e.g. maximising benefit income, reducing rent arrears and debt management supportIncreasing resilience of people using our services through developing independent living skills and linking with education, training and employment services to enable long-term sustainable independenceEnhancing people’s quality of life by working closely with health and wellbeing services; including mental health and substance misuse and probation servicesTo succeed as the Support worker you will have:Excellent communication skills with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with all partnersCommitment to supporting people to achieve the best outcomes as they work towards independence with strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.Competent at using a computer and a range of software packagesCommitted to developing your knowledge and skillsResponsive and flexible to the needs of the team and the clients.We are listed in the top 100 UK Best Workplaces 2023 in the UK.
