Job PurposeTo act as the account manager for clients of the newly launched West Midlands Supply Chain Transition project and working with a portfolio of clients that will engage with the programme. The Supply Chain Specialist will be the key point of contact for SME clients and will manage the relationship between the business and all aspects of the programme as well as a range of internal and external business support services. The post holder will also be responsible for shaping the programme outputs for each client.Responsibilities:1.To deliver the West Midlands Supply Chain Transition to produce the maximum impact in terms of assisting client companies to reach their full growth potential, and adoption of appropriate new technologies to deliver improved productivity in emerging growth sectors and GVA growth.2.Collaborate and work with the project manager on key programme initiatives.3.Act as the account manager for a portfolio of West Midlands-based SME clients.Handling enquiries via, phone and email, initially assessing the growth potential and business needs using appropriate tools, processes and systems where required and establishing and maintaining effective relationships and key client contacts.4.Undertake diagnostics and lead workshops for businesses using appropriate tools to identify issues and opportunities for clients in the path to technology adoption supporting them in the development and delivery of an action plan.5.Work with eligible clients to develop a transformation roadmap working with regional OEM's.6.Support the client's delivery of the roadmap including support with their business case, any funding applications and supplier identification.7.Ensure that potential clients comply with the project eligibility criteria by ensuring that initial eligibility checks, prior to formal assessment and action planning are carried out.8.Making sure clients are personally introduced to those services identified as appropriate (internal and external) and monitor the delivery of these services to support the client's strategy and objectives and address those barriers to growth identified.9.Develop and maintain a network of business and professional contacts that generate referrals, including into supplier chain workshops and Meet the Buyer events.10.Ensure client enquiries and partner referrals are correctly recorded on to programme CRM system and associated service-specific data capturing systems. Update progress against agreed action plans, ensuring all administration is completed in timely manner against deadlines and is checked for accuracy.11.Ensure that the monitoring and collection of output and impacts data is undertaken throughout the project and at the conclusion of each individual project in-line with funders' requirements.12.Support and attend events on behalf of the Supply Chain Transition programme.Person SpecificationEssential SkillsECapable of acting as an account manager to manufacturing and engineering SMEs across electric light vehicles and very light rail sectors.·Capable of delivery support to clients wishing to undertaketransformation of their business into new and emerging growth sectors across the region.·Capable of identifying the culture within a business and rapidly assessing the potential barriers to adoption within it.·Capable of identifying the issues and opportunities for clients to adopt industrial technology and of demonstrating how the appropriate adoption would benefit the business and improve its future growth performance in line with the client business objectives and strategy.·Capable of leading and facilitating road map workshops for clients including writing an investment business case.·Capable of forming good working relationships across all levels of any client business.·Presentation skills both written and oral.·Excellent communication and networking skills.·Excellent planning, organisational, administrative and project management skills.Well-developed IT skills, including an understanding of computerised management information systems, spreadsheets, diary management, e-mail and CRM databases.Experience·A minimum of 5 years' experience working within business support or employer engagement (candidates with less than this number of years' experience, who can demonstrate the necessary skills, will be considered). Senior management experience within a manufacturing business would be advantageous.·Experience of working with business leaders or senior managers involved with the adoption of new technologies to help them transform for the future.·Experience of managing and delivering business assessment, advice and development.·Experience of teamworking across a wide geographical area.AptitudeDemonstrates natural ability and personality that will build and maintain personal credibility with client and partner relationships with a responsive “can do” attitude.CircumstancesAble to work flexibly to accommodate early and late working times from time to time.Valid driving license and use of a vehicle insured for business use
