Together, we lead and leave a positive impact on societies, companies and people around the world.You will join our Cambridge Building Structures team  As our new Structural Engineering Director, you will be part of our central Cambridge office working on a range of exciting local landmarks as well as national and international projects, particularly in the fields of Science, Healthcare and Timber projects. We operate a fun and inquisitive office environment and actively encourage design flair and early career responsibility.The role will require you to provide leadership and management of all aspects of growth and development of our business, as well as building new relationships with clients and stakeholders both internally and externally.As our new Buildings Structures Team Leader, you will be part of a successful twenty strong team based in central Cambridge. The team has a long history of delivering significant building projects across numerous sectors. The structures team forms a significant part of the Ramboll Cambridge 50 strong office, which also provides MEP, Environmental, Acoustics, and other specialist services.It is Ramboll’s ambition for our Cambridge office to continue to develop into one of our most notable office locations by growing our market share regionally, nationally and internationally.Your key tasks and responsibilities will involve:Develop and lead a team of Building Structural EngineersRaise the profile and reputation of Ramboll’s building Structures offering in the East, the UK and internationally. Candidates will be expected to market our offering via networking, business to business meetings, seminars, thought leadership and general business developmentProactively lead and manage the team, providing excellent communication, supporting career development, ensuring staff retention, knowledge sharing and team workingEnsuring technical excellence of the team, including high quality delivery of projects and innovative solutionsHelp to develop and promote Ramboll’s multi-discipline capability in the local marketHave responsibility for all aspects of implementing budgetary strategies, including fee bidding, profitable project delivery, working capital management, and forecasting for the team.To be responsible for the financial performance of all the projects delivered by the Cambridge Structures teamEnsure your leadership and management positively influences the team to win and deliver projects to the satisfaction of our clientsDevelop and own a strategy, in line with our national strategies, to develop the team’s future success, working closely with the Regional Head of Department and UK Discipline leaderTo inspire team members to develop their abilities, skills and experiencesCollaborate and interact with other UK teams to optimize workload and capacityWorking to push the boundaries of low-carbon designCommunicating designs to design team members and contractorsYour key deliverables over the first 12 months will be:Generate business value by innovatively influencing the markets in which Ramboll operates and in positioning Ramboll, its portfolio and its capabilities positively within themCreate, develop and grow business value from the client relationship, effectively leveraging capabilities across the Ramboll portfolio to the benefit of the client by demonstrating marketplace knowledge and insightEnergetically play a central and leading role in a Structures team, contributing to team morale and fostering collaborationYour starting point for constant growthFrom the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the company. We provide growth and development opportunities in a supportive environment with flexible and hybrid working, and care about our people’s wellbeing.The position in our team will require some work experience with the following starting points:Essential requirements:Educated to a degree level or equivalent in structural / civil engineeringChartered, with demonstrable experience as a structural Associate engineerProven track record in leading and managing all aspects of project deliveryForward thinking and passionate about digital design innovation and ‘smart design’ in increasingly digitalized construction arenaHigh degree of technical competence with demonstrable appreciation of sustainable designA notable/growing profile and reputation as a high regarded, well liked and trusted building structures leaderProven ability to win business for the company. Understands the marketplace, the growth sectors and busy clients. Have knowledge of pipeline opportunities and the ability to help position Ramboll to winAbility to motivate and lead multidisciplinary professional teamsDemonstration of aptitude for team leadership and ambition for senior leadership career progressionProven client focus and a demonstrable track record of winning repeat business with key clientsRelevant experience and insight into one or more key sectors including science, healthcare, heritage, education, higher education, residential or commercial developmentExperience of working on high profile, award winning projectsAbility to manage the design and construction stages of a projectBe competent at influencing people (staff, clients)Be proactive in addressing problem issues, presenting and pushing solutionsWe are also interested in any experience you may have in the following areas, but these are not essential:Experience of Science sectorAssessment, retrofit and alteration of existing structuresConstruction supervision, building investigation and structural testingExperience of heritage structural workExperience of MMCPersonal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include: a ‘can do’ attitude with a strong desire to learn and be challenged, a passion for sustainability and a willingness to take ownership of your own work and development.
