Job Title: Strategy, Policy and Performance Officer

Working Hours: 37 hours

Location: Walsall Council

Work Mode: Hybrid

Pay Rate: £19.81 - £22.51 (PAYE), £25.75 - £29.26 (Umbrella) per hour

Contract Duration: 6 months (potential extension and permanent post)

The Role:

As a Strategy, Policy and Performance Officer, you'll be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing to strategic programs that span across the Council. Your role will involve shaping cross-cutting policies, supporting strategic initiatives such as Levelling Up and Devolution, and collaborating with the West Midlands Combined Authority. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of our Council Plan and borough ambitions, influencing decision-making at all levels of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and shape cross-cutting policies and strategies in alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Produce high-quality briefing notes and reports to inform decision-making processes.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Present findings and recommendations to diverse audiences effectively.
  • Lead the development of the Council's strategic Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) agenda, ensuring alignment with the Public Sector Equality Duty.

Requirements:

  • Experience in shaping and developing policies and strategies within local government or the public sector.
  • Ability to think strategically and apply an intelligence-led approach to Council priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Awareness of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion considerations in policy development.
