Stores Materials Handler (Automotive)

We are recruiting a stores materials handler for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield.
You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.
Key Responsibilities of the Stores Materials Handler:
• Knowledge of and be able to recognise car parts.
• Inspect vehicle parts to ensure they adhere to the technical drawings.
• Understanding of how to use handheld measuring tools (verniers, vernier calipers, feeler gauges etc.) accurately.
• Be able to accurately describe/report parts that have failed inspection to departments out-side of the UK.
• Receipt of Goods In & Out, to include unloading of test parts in a timely manner.
• Liaise with Customer groups to advise of test parts arrival.
• Pick test parts for use by test groups.
• Support the Team Leader to meet targets to ensure performance of the department.
• Support section management to maintain Health & Safety
• Work with the team to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and capture knowledge.
• Ensure timely receipt and booking in of test parts.
• Ensure that stock is controlled using client databases.
• Always provide excellent customer service to support projects.
• Use skills to provide support to other sections as required
Qualifications & Experience for the Stores Materials Handler:
• Experience in the motor trade, technician, Stores/Goods Inwards & Outwards environment
• FLT licence – not essential but willingness to learn is.
• Practical application experience
• Current Full UK Driving Licence
• A good knowledge and experience of using PC packages in day-to-day work.
• Ability to use CAD and read engineering drawings or willingness to be taught.
• Good organisational skills
• Good attention to detail
• Be able to manage and prioritise their own workload, with guidance from the Team Leader
• A team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Physically fit, be able to lift parts up to 23 kgs.
• Be prepared to visit other locations to carry out inspections at suppliers’ locations.
Hours & Pay for the Stores Materials Handler:
• Monday to Friday
• 39 hours per week
• £18.01 p/h
