Steel Fitter (Rooftop Steels / Telecoms)

GBR Recruitment Ltd, are working in partnership with a Rooftop Steels installation company, recruiting for an experienced Steel Fitter / Senior Steel Fitter (open to varying levels of experience in Steel Fit Out).�

This well established / highly progressive company offers both a steel fabrication supply &�installation service with their steelwork fabricated in house working to BS1090 Exc 2.

They produce, plus�install anything from small wall brackets or poles, to full steel grillages, tripod antenna support frames, large steel grillages for mounting equipment cabins / cabinets through to much larger car ports & canopies (produce bespoke infrastructure for any Steels�project).

As a key member of the steels crew you will be�highly skilled &�climber trained (training can be provided by the client for an experienced Steel Fitter).�

As an accomplished Steel Fitter professional with strong mild Steel experience, you will be able to read from original Blueprint Specifications, use a variety of Hand Tools / Power Tools, ideally with the ability to Fabricate, MIG Weld, Tack-Weld & GMAW.�

Steel Fitter Duties:�

• Working at height on Rooftop installation projects UK wide.�


• Liaise with a variety of end using clients, to advise on scope of works.


• Cut steel using acetylene torches.


• Cut, bend, or weld mild steel pieces where required, using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.


• Force structural-steel (mild steel) members into final positions, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks &�hand / power tools.


• Complete all site paperwork for client handover (H&S, worksheets, QA)�


• Load & Unload the Van pre-construction.�


• General housekeeping of the site.�


• Follow H&S guidelines for Working at Height / Climbing.�


• Liaise with head office if�any issues during the install.�

Experience Required:�

• Time-served Mild Steel Fitter�


• MIG Welding & Fabrication skills�


• Working at Height / Climber trained�


• Abrasive Wheels trained�


• Asbestos Awareness�


• Able to read / interpret Blueprints / Technical Drawings�


• Professional multi-level communicator


• Happy to work away from home (2-4 times a month approx.)�


• Driving license for driving the company Van (this can be taken home).�

This Steel Fitter role is commutable from: Leicester, Nottingham, Loughborough, Derby, Corby, Grantham, Stamford, Market Harborough, Coalville & Oakham.�
