Be responsible for providing high standards of nursing care that is safe, patient- centred and cost effectiveEnsure that the highest standard of evidence-based nursing care is delivered to all patients and their familiesAct as patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are metReport any issues that are identified by patients or their relatives on a timely basisEnsure that all provision of nursing care is documented on a timely basis and accurately reflects the patient experienceEnsure that individual care plans are followedEnsure meals are supervised and care plan around meals are followedCarry out phlebotomy for patientsEnsure a high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare associated infectionsAdminister all drugs and medications as per the local policies and proceduresReport to the senior nurses any nursing issues of significance or concernEnsure that all policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions that relate to nursing are followedMaintain sound and effective working relationships and communication with all hospital colleagues and consultantsMaintain an appropriate standard of confidentialityEnsure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Children Act are fulfilled, as applicableSuccessfully complete the Immediate Life Support course on an annual basis
Requirements of the Staff Nurse:
Be able to pass Naso-gastric tubes in line with NG procedureBe able to administer meal replacement plans as prescribed by the hospital dietitianAll Nursing colleagues and ODPs should hold as a minimum a valid ILS provider certificateRegistered nurseMentorship courseAbility to manage a personal caseloadPost registration experienceExperience within a surgical settingUnderstanding of on-going professional development requirementsGood communication skills - Verbal & writtenSound interpersonal skillsExcellent customer care skillsUnderstanding of private medicine and the relevant legislative frameworksKnowledge of clinical governanceKnowledge of care standards & the role of the CQCSelf-motivated and adaptable
