Various Hours The James Cook University Hospital is looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Registered Nurses to work on our Care of the Older Person's Ward. You must have:
A desire to work with older people on our acute medical wards A passion for older people's care in an acute setting
Main duties of the jobWe have one Older People's medicine wards at James Cook University Hospital that cares for older people who are acutely unwell and require admission to hospital. Many of the patients on the ward will have a diagnosis of dementia along with complex medical problems. They will also require long term condition management. This is an exciting time to be part of our friendly and forward thinking team. We pride ourselves on delivering co-ordinated, person-centred care. We have lots of exciting initiatives happening at present which include the roll out the Trust's Frailty Strategy. If you are up to the unique challenge of caring for older frail people then this is an excellent opportunity for you. This is an ideal opportunity to develop your skills and learn about a variety of medical conditions such as diabetes, renal, cardiac and respiratory medicine. We also offer a bespoke training programme including dementia training and complex discharge planning. Nurses from non-acute or non NHS backgrounds are welcome to apply. You will be supported by the Ward Manager, Practice Development Nurse and Clinical Matron in your continued professional development with the appropriate training opportunities.
