SENIOR DAS ENGINEER - RADIO & BACKHAUL - PERMANENT -THEALE/READING

Technical/Engineering Authority for the client in the field of active radio solutions & backhaul, responsible for creating design guidance for design and build suppliers for both existing and new demand requirements. The role's primary focus is to be the Design SME for backhaul delivery of the traditional macro solutions with opportunities to contribute to future initiatives such as DAS, Small Cell and other indoor coverage type solutions as our service offerings grow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creation and maintenance of design documents to support transmission deployment for Virgin Media O2, Vodafone and other customers.
• SME in DAS, small cell and indoor coverage solutions
• Support in the production and maintenance of general guidance documents to ensure Customers and Suppliers are working to the same standards.
• Support new Backhaul Products introductions and ensure that adequate design guidance is produced to support the Delivery Process.
• Management of the Design Concessions when there are reasonable deviations from the design requirements issued by Client.
• Assessment and management of Design Change Requests submitted by the Customers.
• Define end-to-end processes and associated Process Definition Documents for different projects.
• Act as a single design Point of Contact (PoC) for assigned projects.
• When required, develop hardware solutions and manage the product development process all the way from product specifications to prototype, testing, FSI and O&M documentation.
• Provide technical support to the internal teams within Client for RFIs/RFPs for Incoming Site Sharers.
• Host/Participate in the Design/Projects related meetings with the customers and issue reports and RAID logs.
• Host and present in the Design Workshops arranged for the customers and Design & Build Suppliers.
• Supervise the development and maintenance of IT tools to support Engineering workstreams and improve collaboration.
• Contribute innovative ideas and support the implementation of initiatives to enable the business to work smarter.
• Assist with improving reporting capability from the team.
• Manage the Engineering related reporting requests from the Customers.

Technical Skills:

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the telecoms industry, e.g. who are the UK Mobile Network Operators, Fixed Line and Microwave backhaul technologies (along with the providers/vendors) and background information about Cornerstone.
• Good understanding of L2 and L3 backhaul solutions and associated protocols.
• Good knowledge and understanding of Macro Radio, DAS, Small cell and indoor coverage solutions

Skills and Knowledge:

• Excellent IT skills, in particular the use of all Microsoft products.
• Exquisite communication skills.
• Ambitious drive to develop skills and knowledge in the field of telecommunications / Radio equipment & Hardware.
• Organizational skills.
• Proactive attitude, with the ability to quickly react and adapt to changing requirements.
