SQL DBA (Database Administrator)
Location: Tamworth / Hybrid or Remote
Salary: £60,000
Job Role:
A great opportunity has come up to work for an innovative organisation as they look to build the Database team. For this opportunity, you will be required to Report to one of the Domain Team Managers, and working closely with the development team you will be responsible for the performance of approximately 50 mission-critical SQL Server instances.
You will also monitor and tune production workloads to optimise performance for the client's customers and ensure their data is protected. This is a new role that provides an excellent opportunity for any individual to use their specialist SQL Server knowledge to drive industry best practices. The role is office / home-based, allowing you to choose the environment that works best.
Responsibilities:
Make recommendations to developers, communicate best practices, update guidelines.
Implement and monitor appropriate maintenance plans.
Monitor production workloads, identify issues and trends, report KPIs.
Identify any inefficient or poorly performing workload.
Optimise complex queries, validate changes in terms of performance and correctness.
Work closely with the development team; review schema changes.
Ensure customer data is protected through security, backups and High Availability.
Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.
Essential Skills Required:
Proven experience as SQL Server Database Administrator managing mission critical SQL Server instances.
Demonstrated ability to tune SQL workloads, including monitoring production workloads, plan caches, understanding execution plans, optimise complex queries.
Experience working closely with a development team.
Desirable Skills:
Experience of SSIS, Data Warehouse, reporting solutions.
Knowledge of Azure SQL.
Fleet/Leasing/Accounting industry experience.
