We currently have one vacancy within our established Dementia and Frailty services, based with the West Hub Community Mental Health Team for older adults.We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of working within culturally diverse areas of Birmingham. You will have sound clinical skills and be approved, or eligible, for approval, under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act. You will have full registration with the GMC and experience of psychiatry at a Core Training grade. Excellent communication skills, team working skills and flexibility are essential. You will be encouraged to participate in continuing professional development, audit, research and teaching.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide clinical input in the integrated acute care pathway. The routine work involves assessing new patients referred to the community mental health team and the ongoing treatment and management of patients under the care of community mental health team.The post holder for the West Hub Community Mental Health Team for older adults will be based at the:Ashcroft Unit, The Moorings, Hockley, Birmingham, B18 5SDWorking for our organisationWith hands on support from consultant colleagues, including portfolio development and exposure to a wide range of experience (including Psychotherapy) to aid competency achievement, this is a great opportunity for experienced psychiatrists, looking to make the next move in their career.Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesPart of this great opportunity will provide:Personalised portfolioAccess to the RCPsych’s CPD OnlineSupport in gaining research competenciesInvolvement in our academic programme and teachingRegular clinical supervision & separate CESR mentorSAS Tutor support and CESR / SAS support forumsInformal enquiries are encouraged.Person specificationInterviewRecognised medical degreeFull GMC registration with a licence to practice.Eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act.Completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be within a psychiatry training programme or as a fixed term specialty trainee within psychiatry; or have equivalent experience and competences.Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development.At least two years experience of working in psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community settingMinimum 6 months experience in Old Age Psychiatry.Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level.Commitment to clinical audit and quality improvement within multi-disciplinary team.Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing service needs.Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team.Demonstrable interest in the provision of gender sensitive mental health service.Able to travel across the community base area.MRCPsych or equivalent.Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (#####).Broad clinical training in psychiatry including both inpatient and community service.Experience serving a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population.Experience of providing psychological and/or social interventions.Experience of contributing to or completion of a service improvement project.Completed clinically relevant audit projects.Skills in working with individuals who are difficult to engage.Our Trust is committed to treating individuals fairly and ensuring they have the same opportunities to fulfil their potential, even if this means doing things differently for different people sometimes.
