We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to work in theKensington & Chelsea Older Adults Integrated Community Mental Health Team and Home Treatment Team.The post is an established one within the CMHT and has become available due to the current post holder leaving to do core training in psychiatry.The specialty doctor in post is expected to form an integral part of the senior team.Main duties of the job1. Conduct initial clinical assessments (approximately 1/week)2. Provide consultation to the rest of the team, undertaking reviews with care co-ordinators. 3. Home treatment team assessments and Mental Health Act assessments also form a core part of the role.4. The post holder would be expected to hold a case load of up to 10 cases as a key worker.5. Attend weekly MDT meetings as well as business and training meetings.6. There are twice weekly initial assessment feedback meetings which the specialty doctor can expect to contribute to.There are no out of hours on call duties associated with this post.The post holder would be encouraged to undertake an audit or quality improvement project and would have ring-fenced time for this.This post is designed to equip doctors who want to develop toward further progression in their professional career through multiple opportunities. From this post you may gain up to four referees required for application to Article 14 if the post-holder is interested applying to the Specialist Register. The Trust also has a CESR Lead and the post holder can access this support. The post will support Attendance at the Imperial MRCPsych courses for those who intend to sit the RCPsych examinationsAbout usThe Kensington & Chelsea Community Mental Health Team for older adults is a large, dynamic service offering mental health and social care services to residents of Kensington & Chelsea meeting the service criteria for 'older people and healthy ageing'. This covers a wide range of both functional and organic disorders but is no longer an age-specific service the team will provide care for people with physical and mental health comorbidities, frailty and other issues related to the ageing process. The Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Supervisor is Dr Deirdre Bonner.The team treats both functional disorders and dementia however, the latter consists of working with the more complex end of dementia management, as early dementias are managed by our Kensington & Chelsea Memory Service. We therefore tend to work more with behavioural and psychological symptoms as well as those with co-morbidities or diagnostic uncertainty.
