We seek to recruit a substantive, experienced Specialty Doctor to work within the Northern Contraception, Sexual Health & HIV Service for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT)
Specialty Doctor 8 PAs
The successful candidate will join a dynamic, forward looking and well established team of consultants and Speciality Doctors providing integrated sexual health and contraception services across a large section of Greater Manchester: Manchester, Salford and Trafford. The department provides services in partnership the local authority, voluntary organisations and other agencies that provide health and social care to meet the sexual and reproductive health needs of our local communities.
Main duties of the job
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely within an integrated, multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and other staff.
Provide consultations for patients attending the clinic for the diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections and related conditions.
Provide consultations for patients attending the clinic for management of contraception needs and related care.
Participate in the clinical research conducted within the department. The clinic population offers a wealth of clinical material and the post holder will be encouraged to develop his/her own research interests.
The Trust runs a robust Clinical Governance Agenda and the department aims to support and develop audit within the department and participation will be required of the post holder.
Utilise professional skills in all relevant areas of sexual health and reproductive health in the provision of care for patients accessing the service.
Provide patients with information and support to make informed choices about their relationships and sexual health.
Practice in accordance with service clinical protocols/guidelines.
Give advice and timely onward referral, where necessary.
Treat all patients in a sensitive and non-judgemental manner.
Be conversant with the issue of confidentiality and consent and the law in relation to the provision of advice or treatment.
Be aware of adult and children safeguarding issues and comply with the service and Trust guidelines and policies.
