Scotland’s first modern hospice, St Columba’s Hospice Care first opened its doors in 1977. Over the years, it has grown and evolved into an exemplary provider of specialist palliative care for thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses in Edinburgh and the Lothians annually, while also providing support to their relatives and loved ones. We currently have the following opportunity to join the Hospice team:
Specialty Doctor/Clinical Fellow in Palliative Medicine (3 Posts)
Specialty Doctor: £58198 - £90688 per annum pro-rata (dependent on experience) plus additional on call supplements
Clinical Fellow: £40995 - £64461 per annum pro-rata (dependent on experience) plus additional on call supplements
Applications are invited for 3 posts, which can be at either specialty doctor level or clinical fellow level, depending on experience. One post is available immediately (covering a secondment so available for a year in the first instance) and the other two posts are available from the beginning of August.
You will work for 3 or 4 weekdays (9-5), with some late weekday finishes (6pm) and work at weekends (currently 1 in 10 Saturday/Sundays 9am-3pm) covering the inpatient unit and the virtual ward. You will also participate in the first on call rota, with additional weekend on call (up to 3 weekends per year) and some overnight weeknight on call (currently one night every 5 weeks).
You will bring enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and team working abilities to the wider multidisciplinary clinical team. You will work across inpatient and community-based settings.
Experience in Palliative Medicine is desirable but not essential and applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, with a current licence to practise.
