With specialist facilities and a focus on promoting independence, supporting each of our young services through the transition from education into adulthood with a focus on person-centred programmes to promote independenceJob Title: Specialist Speech and Language TherapistSalary: £37,669 - £44,699Location: Near Royston, CambridgeshireHours: Full-time 40 hours a week 52 weeks a yearContract Type: PermanentBenefits of the Specialist Speech and Language Therapist:33 days holiday a yearFull training and continued supportLife assurance and pensionFree membership to our Health cash back plan - Claim back money on services such as dental, optical, physio and many moreBike to work schemePerk box - access to shopping discountsFree ParkingFree lunch when on shiftSuccessful candidates for this role will require an enhanced DBS check - paid for by us.Refer a friend scheme - earn up to £1000Company sick payLease car scheme As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for the following:Manage and prioritise a caseload including communication and dysphagia needsCarry out comprehensive communication, swallowing, eating and drinking assessmentsProvide advice on suitability and therapy needs of prospective studentsProvide individual aims for communication and eating and drinking as part of the MDT for Individual Education PlansProvide individual programmes for communication, assistive technology, swallowing and feedingDeliver speech and language interventions to individuals, small groups or within the classroom as requiredMaintain concise clinical recording in accordance with professional guidelinesMonitor eating and drinking support practice and provide training as requiredPromote Total Communication practice across the serviceWork with staff and family members to ensure consistent, joined up communication supportAttend and contribute to reviews, providing written reports where requiredMake onward referrals for specialist assessment or advice in respect of AAC or dysphagiaProvide induction and individualised training as requiredSupervise and line manage speech and language therapy assistant(s)Work within professional boundaries and seek guidance where requiredSkills and Qualifications:Speech and Language Therapy degree at graduate or masters levelCertificate to practise Speech and Language TherapyRegistered member of RCSLT and HCPCPost-graduate dysphagia trainingCompetencies at Level C of RCSLT Eating, Drinking and Swallowing Competency Framework (EDSCF)Requirement to undertake relevant learning, continued professional development and clinical supervision as required by RCSLT and HCPCWillingness to maintain clinical links with relevant clinical groups to develop specialist expertise and knowledge relating to the role (such as dysphagia and AAC groups)Knowledge:Person-centred approaches to supportLegislation relating to consent and restrictive practice within the Mental Capacity ActPositive behaviour support planning and interventionsAAC systems and approachesIDDSI, dysphagia interventions and feeding issues relating to this caseloadExperience:Working with children and young people with SEND, PMLD and ASDWorking with children and young people with complex communication, swallowing and feeding needsWorking with hi and lo-tech AAC systemsDelivering provision through EHCP processWorking in early years, school, college or residential settingsWorking with a dysphagia caseloadWorking within a multi-disciplinary teamCan you provide the best specialist support to the people within this service whilst inspiring them to live happy, healthy, and meaningful lives whilst having a whole lot of fun?
