University Hospitals Dorset are looking for a Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner for Children. Our Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner post is a visible, operational role ensuring that children and young people who use our services are seen, heard and supported to feel safe. Working with families and staff to ensure the child is at the heart of decision making and that robust safeguarding practice is embedded within all our teams, regardless of a person's role. Our practitioners maintain enablers for staff (policy/intranet resources) to work confidently and safely with children and families. We work as a joint safeguarding team with specialist adult practitioners and domestic abuse advocates. Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital but you will be required to work across site Interview Date: TBCMain duties of the job
Ensure that the voice of the child is heard and safeguarding children is embedded in services developments. Lead the promotion of good professional practice for safeguarding children providing specialist advice and expertise on a daily basis to Trust staff. Develop effective multiagency working and liaison, with a particular focus for complex cases and discharge planning across the Child Health Unit, Adult wards where children are hosted and Emergency Department. Contribute to the development and facilitation of Safeguarding training and supervision for identified Trust Staff. To identify and encourage improvement and innovation in the delivery of the Safeguarding service. To analyse information pertaining to safeguarding, identifying trends or areas for improvement are quickly identified and escalated to the Head of Safeguarding. To be responsible for the return of quality audit/reports, ensuring learning is shared and actions taken. Engage and work effectively with a range of partner organisations to safeguard children in hospital and the wider community (e.g. Safeguarding Children Partnerships, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Local Authorities, Police, Education, Primary care, voluntary sectors, housing, courts and the general public)
