We are delighted to offer a 30 hours per week post covering the maternity of a Clinical Psychologist working onto Oak ward, a functional ward based at West Park. We welcome applications from existing Band 8As, existing Band 7s and newly qualified psychologists and locums. This is an exciting opportunity to innovate, build upon, develop and grow the psychological application, interventions and resources available to patients, carers and staff on the ward.Main duties of the jobOak ward is an assessment ward that provides inpatient admission stays for older people who are experiencing significant mental health related difficulties that are sufficient enough to require an admission. The successful candidate will work with an experienced multi-professional team to help support the needs of our patients, carers and staff. The role will involve facilitating and supporting the delivery of psychological assessments, and psychologically informed interventions. The psychologist will use their knowledge of challenging behaviour to inform formulations and behaviour support plans, and interventions with the aim of reducing distress for our patients on the ward.About usWorking on the wards will provide you with the opportunity to work with professionals from multi-disciplines. Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist Evidence of continuing professional development Trained in clinical supervision (within agreed timescale) Trained in care co-ordination (within agreed timescale)
Desirable
Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model Registration with BPS
ExperienceEssential
Must have experience/interest in: Working with mental health clients (depending on designated service area)
Knowledge / SkillsEssential
Risk assessment and risk management Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health. Communicate highly complex and highly sensitive information effectively, to a wide range of people

Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
