Specialist One to One Study Skills - Spld

Are you interested in helping others to improve their study skills whilst at University? Do you have experience in supporting others with their academic work?

Randstad Student Support are looking for one to one study skills tutors in the stoke-on-trent location

Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored one-to-one support with students you have been assigned to based on their specific learning difficulties

• Assist students with organisational skills such as, time management, creating action plans to work towards deadlines

• Help with their research skills by assisting them to access ranges of resources

• Provide help with writing skills, how to structure their work

• Encourage students to build on existing strengths so they are able to develop on their independence

• Behave in a confidential and professional manner at all time with students

• Work closely with Randstad and ensure any concerns regarding students are communicated immediately

As this is a specialist role, it is essential that you have a professional membership with one of the following:

• The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) - Full or associate membership
• British Dyslexia Association (BDA) - Full professional membership
• The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE) - Professional membership
• Dyslexia Guild Associate Member (ADG) - Associate Member (ADG FE/HE) OR Member (MDG)

• Organisational skills - to be able to manage your workload of multiple students to support
• Be reliable and punctual at all times when having sessions with students
• Accurate spelling and grammar skills
• Understandable and patient when working with students
• Have an understanding on how to use platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc
• Be empathetic and adaptive - understanding how each student is different
