Are you an experienced orthoptist with a special interest in complex paediatric orthoptics? If so, we have a great opportunity for you here at Great Ormond Street Hospital.Main duties of the jobWe are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Orthoptist to provide a comprehensive, quality orthoptic service within the busy ophthalmology department of a tertiary referral centre. This post is most suitable for Orthoptists with significant post-graduation experience, with evidence of specialist paediatric knowledge and skills. Come and join our passionate and dedicated team of ophthalmic professionals, providing high standards of patient care. You will be given high quality training opportunities with close clinical supervision, and opportunities to share knowledge to others within the team. The post-holder will be supported by the Head Orthoptist and 6 further (4.6 WTE) Orthoptists, along with 8 Consultant Ophthalmologists, optometrists, visual scientists and clinical nurse specialists. As the role requires communication and liaison with patients with complex conditions, other clinical departments, both within the hospital and other trust, advanced communication and inter-personal skills are paramount.
