Job DescriptionJob Title: Contract Software Engineer (Inside IR35)Location: Birmingham, B37 7YE (Hybrid, 2 days per week)Are you a talented Software Engineer with a passion for innovation and a knack for problem-solving? Uniper, a leading energy trading company, is seeking a Contract Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced Energy Trading environment, supporting our UK operations and collaborating closely with our Trading IT Solutions team.Role Overview:As a Contract Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing new features and enhancements for our customised landscape, primarily focusing on in-house applications hosted on the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, design robust solutions, and ensure compliance with Uniper's stringent design and QA standards.Main Responsibilities:Designing and implementing integrated, cloud-based software solutions to enhance our trading capabilities.Collaborating with business and IT stakeholders to transform requirements into robust solutions.Working within a Scrum team, following Agile or Waterfall methodologies.Ensuring all development meets Uniper QA and operational standards.Resolving issues in a timely manner and providing operational support.Maintaining compliance with security and audit requirements.Building and maintaining deployment tools and automating operations processes.Designing and implementing automated systems for monitoring and optimization of infrastructure.Performing database administration tasks, including performance monitoring and optimization.Role Requirements:Essential:Bachelor's or MS in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.Experience in full-stack software development, proficient in C# and Python.Proficiency in Git version control (Azure DevOps / GitHub).Good understanding of Azure services.Experience with agile delivery processes (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.Proficiency in automation tools and managing MS Azure Cloud resources.Desirable:Experience in the Energy sector, particularly in Dispatch and Trading domains.Knowledge of algorithmic trading and data science.Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code scripting languages (e.g., Terraform).Web design expertise and familiarity with trending frameworks.Experience with DevOps, Docker/Kubernetes, IP networking, and cloud technologies.Experience with distributed message queuing systems and streaming technology.If you're a proactive Software Engineer looking to make an impact in a challenging and rewarding environment, we want to hear from you!
