Working as part of a growing and diverse team, you will work across a diverse product portfolio that encompasses innovative land, sea and air products and fulfil a quality assurance engineering role, involved in assuring our software is developed in accordance with the agreed process and standards.You will be in a hands-on software quality assurance role as well as collaborating with and influencing the quality department and the software leadership team, reviewing and improving the software development process throughout the software function. Thales operates a hybrid working model where it is possible to blend working from home and on site. Some travel between company UK sites may be required from time-to-time.Responsibilities:Performing all aspects of Software Quality Assurance on our development projects, you will be involved in:Planning and performing project audits and surveillance activities in accordance with the Project Quality Plans and audit strategy. This will likely include assessment of software projects against IEC61508.Support the Thales DDQS (Design, Develop, Qualify the Solution) Process, acting as the Quality representative for Software Reviews.Managing and analysing reports to continually improve software quality within the software projects, and ensure the quality performance is managed and reported to meet project time-scalesEncouraging and developing best practice, promoting a quality culture and environment of continuous improvementRequirementsIdeally, you will:Be a self-motivated software professional with experience in developing with C++ and C, and it is desirable if you have experience working with RTOS/OS.Have a detailed knowledge of current quality and related working practices and standards preferably AS9100 and IEC61508Be able to lead lessons learnt and process improvement workshops across the software lifecycle (development and test), identifying areas for improvement and managing the implementation of changes to the processBe a qualified auditor or have similar experiencePossess excellent communication and influencing skills to promote quality within the wider operations teamIt is desirable (but not essential) that you will:Have worked as a Quality Engineer OR Quality Assurance Lead in a manufacturing or engineering environmentBe a member of, or working towards membership of the Chartered Quality InstituteThis would be an excellent opportunity for an individual with aspirations to develop technically with routes to specialist and expert.Due to the nature of the work, the candidate should hold or be able to hold UK Secret clearance.#LI-SW1 In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
