Software Engineer - Attractive - Permanent - Defence and Aviation Systems - East Midlands Area A Software Engineer is required to join a market leading Innovative Defence Systems and Aviation Company. The Software Engineer will be Supporting the Software Technical Lead to define, plan, create and verify software development and testing. The Software Engineer will play a part in all current and future programme activities contributing to the support integration and test activities, including trials in the UK. Software Engineer - Key Responsibilities Create the software plan for existent software developmentIncorporating appropriate processes for safety critical developmentUpdate existing software safety management plan accordinglyMaintain software requirements, design and testing documentationMaintain procedures and methods for development and testingContribute towards the continual improvement of working practices and methodsSupport the Software Technical Lead in training the other software team membersParticipate in software implementation, bug fixing and testingSupport generation and preparation of software release documentationParticipate in software integration and qualification, system integration and testBring maturity and credibility when engaging with customers, managers and stakeholdersCover potentially both Real Time and Windows based Software DevelopmentsUndertake systems engineering activities relating to the software programmesPromote the importance of software quality attributes, including system efficiencyDevelop and manage effective relationships across the company and its customersPromote maintainability, reliability, and reusabilityMaintain code and documentation within configuration management systemsParticipate in Peer Reviews of documentation and code
Technical Skills, Qualifications and Experience for the Software Engineer BSc or equivalent in Software Engineering academic degreeStrong Object-Oriented Design principlesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAdvanced C and C++ programming and debugging skillsExperience within a Visual Studio integrated development environmentGood attention to detail with excellent communication skills both verbal and writtenStrong inter-personal and people management skillsStrong business and commercial acumenAbility to prioritise activities as required.Knowledge of algorithms, data structures and software design patternsKnowledge of Real Time Embedded software development and testFamiliarity with a software development lifecycleFamiliarity with software requirements managementExperience in the use of a software design modelling tool and modelling languageExperience in writing well-defined and testable codeFamiliarity with and the use of Software Coding StandardsProficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debuggingExperience working to safety standards such as DO-178C and MISRA. - DesirableExperience using Unified Modelling Language (UML) tools and methodologies to
