PayPoint operates a retail network of over 28,000 local shops through which we deliver a wide range of services to local communities. We manage and settle over £10 billion of omnichannel payments every year. We are embarking on a modernisation of some of our settlement systems thus ensuring that
payments from our retailers to our clients and vice versa continue to be managed in an efficient and seamless manner.
We are now looking for an Engineer in Test to join the team that creates and deploys the technology which supports our Billing & Settlement service.
What will you be doing?
You will be joining a small team that is undergoing a DevOps transformation. Your primary responsibility will be quality assurance of changes to our billing and settlement systems with an emphasis on automated repeatable quality and reliability assurance. As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will undertake a variety of tasks throughout the DevOps lifecycle to help the team overall to meet their goals and deliver a great service to our colleagues and stakeholders from the Finance department. We are also looking for someone who is comfortable with sharing ideas and mentoring less experienced staff to become great engineers-in-test over time.
Responsibilities of the role
Automation of functional and non-functional tests for new and existing features for windows and web services where it makes sense to automate.
Test driven development on all new code.
Working closely with the engineers in the team to advise on tests to be run in developing new products and features.
Writing small code changes to applications.
Promoting engineering practices that improve quality and reliability.
Using Azure DevOps to create and execute test plans.
Supporting production implementations
Using Azure to report defects and update Sprint ticket progress.
Using Confluence to post guides and relevant team documentation.
Support existing Engineer in Test on project testing workload which has been prioritised.
Setting up continuous testing via the DevOpsPipeline.
What would we like from you?
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a test engineer or software engineer with a strong interest in testing (including continuous integration) along with technical proficiency in the tools listed below. With experience of working in a DevOps team, building out roadmap features in an efficient way that allows value to be gained quickly. You will be working in a dedicated team of professionals who follow scrum as a methodology and utilise Azure, Confluence and Teams for their standard toolset.
What is essential for the role?
Azure DevOps
T-SQL – Reading and querying database tables, views, stored procedures
Exposure to using and maintaining complex Windows Server Environments
Windows and API Testing (including performance and load testing)
TDD and/or BDD
Confident/Experienced in manual testing.
Experience in using Jira with an opportunity to be trained in using DevOps Boards.
Good communication skills; both written and verbal are a must
Up to date knowledge on the latest test automation and load frameworks
Team Player with a can-do attitude
C# .NET programming
Selenium WebDriver
Postman/Soap UI
