AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for an experience Social Worker - CIN in the Islington area. 3 - 6 months contract.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
* To be responsible for child and family social work provision to children in need of help and protection or in care in accordance with departmental guidance and procedure.
* To actively contribute to the development of Motivational Social Work model of practice (Doing what Counts and Measuring what Matters) by working skilfully with children and families to help minimise periods of adverse experiences and make long-lasting life changes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Be able to manage the specific set of tasks relating to statutory case responsibility for children in need of help and protection and in public care, with the support of an appropriately qualified supervisor.
2) Identify and assess levels of risk and need, and deliver protective and supportive interventions for children at risk, in need and/or looked after. Evaluate the levels of seriousness different risk may present, actual and likelihood of significant harm. Set out the most relevant options for resolving the difficulties facing each child and the family. Report risk through the line management structure, where relevant.
3) To work intensively with children in need of help or protection and their families using skills-based approaches in direct work. Develop goal-based interventions to help bring about change.
4) Regularly review the effectiveness of the help being provided with the child and family and the team around the child adjusting the plan accordingly.
5) To recognise and evidence the need for safeguarding measures to be considered based on analysis of risk, protective factors, impact on the child and parental capacity.
EDUCATION

  • HCPC recognised social work qualification.


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITY

  • Apply a wide range of knowledge and skills to help build family relationships, resources and resilience so that the welfare of the child remains paramount.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the statutory responsibilities and the role of a social worker in protecting children in need of help and protection.
  • Recognise risk indicators of different forms of harm to children including, sexual, physical and emotional abuse and neglect; the impact of cumulative harm; the full range of adult behaviours which pose a risk to children. Worker is able to raise issues and concerns and engage the family meaningfully throughout.
  • Be able to carry out a full child and family assessment and provide an explanation, recommendations and support based on the findings. Together with the family and other relevant parties, develop an intervention plan that is focused on clear goals to help achieve desired changes.
