Make a Difference in Your Community: Social Work Assistant (Pontypridd)

If so, we are looking for a Social Work Assistant to join our clients team in Pontypridd!
About the Role:
In this role, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, community-based support to former miners and their dependents in the Pontypridd area. You will work directly with clients in their homes and potentially participate in group activities to address their health, disability, financial, and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to understand the unique needs of each client.
  • Provide individualized support, including welfare benefits advice, advocacy, emotional support, and practical guidance.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to build a network of support for your clients.
  • Utilise basic counselling skills to provide emotional support and address distress.
  • Maintain accurate records and comprehensive reports following GDPR guidelines.
  • Promote positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals.


You are a perfect fit if you:

  • Have experience working in social work or social care.
  • Possess a strong understanding of social care legislation and welfare benefits.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are compassionate and empathetic with the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Are organised, efficient, and self-motivated.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have access to your own transportation.

Please note:

  • A good standard of education (GCSEs with minimum Grade C in Maths and English) is required.
  • A Social Work Qualification is desirable but not essential.
