Social Housing Property Lawyer/Portfolio Manager

The Atrato Group has been appointed as the Investment Adviser to a private UK real estate fund set up to invest in homes for the homeless. The Fund has suffered tenant, property and governance issues and Atrato have been appointed to stabilise the portfolio.
The Fund owns 900+ properties with c. 6,000 lettable bed spaces. As newly appointed Investment Adviser to the Fund, Atrato's priority will be to identify the issues facing the Fund and work with to resolve the issues.
It will be the responsibility of the Property Lawyer to manage the Fund's external legal advisers in the delivery of all legal aspects of managing the property portfolio, both contentious and non-contentious. This will require solid knowledge and experience of all aspects of contentious and non-contentious Landlord & Tenant matters, for both commercial and residential property. They will also be involved in all aspects of property development.
The Property Lawyer will work with the Fund Management Team and the Group General Counsel, and there is great potential for the successful candidate to develop the role within the organisation.
Core skills & experience
What must you have to be considered?
Residential property disputes - evicting problem tenants, forfeiting/surrendering properties, reclaiming possession of properties, winding up tenants
Residential or commercial property transactions - drafting leases, SPAs, purchase/sales due diligence
Property development documentation - works management/development agreements, JCTs, works retentions structuring
Experience of contentious evictions
commercial outlook and a strong desire to work in a business facing legal role.
willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters, developing a generalist skillset.
competent technician and comfortable working with minimal supervision
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, the ability to build relationships is key
A confident, professional and pragmatic approach to all duties with clear communication skills and the ability to negotiate
Ability to think strategically and use insight to make logical recommendations
IT Literate, with an in-depth knowledge of full Microsoft office suite of programmes
Ability to work in a team, values diversity.
