SOC Security Analyst Newcastle £35k + bonus

SOC Security Analyst - Hybrid. Office based in Newcastle £28k - £35k moving to 15% shift bonus (£40k plus bens, and training)

This is a very exciting opportunity for a skilled IT Professional with a passion and drive for cyber to make that first break into a permanent, fulltime cyber role! You'll ideally have 2 or 3 years in a customer driven IT environment, possibly in infrastructure, networking, advanced desktop (T2), or even development. Perhaps even a technical degree. The MOST IMPORTANT thing we are looking for is evidence of personal study, use of free online resources (Like Hack the Box, Or Try Hack Me), home lab builds,

You'll be part of a great new operation, with the world (SOC) as your oyster. It'll be a chance to work with a very skilled manager, getting hands on guidance, growth and certificates that will change the course of your career.

Once up and running, the role requires 5 days a month in the Newcastle Office, with the rest being home based. There are some evening shifts after training (around June) for which you'll be bonused. Initially the role will be daytimes ONLY, and hybrid at home and in the office while you're getting trained up.

You'll grow to deliver responsibilities including:

• Develop new detection rules for SIEM.
• Analyse alerts from EDR and SIEM for potential incidents.
• Monitor the team mailbox for incoming requests.
• Conduct incident response activities to minimise the impact for customers.
• Proactively understand and hunt for threats and risks.
• Onboard new data for customers to the SIEM.

Requirements:

• Curious mindset with a keen eye for details in event/alert analysis.
• Strong communication skills for effective team and customer engagement is essential.
• Technical foundation in technology/computing demonstrated through certifications or experience.
• Self-driven approach in a fast-paced, evolving cyber threat environment.

Desirable:

• Experience in SOC or IT support/infrastructure roles
• Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, or Vulnerability Scanning tools.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Experience with public cloud.
• Formal certifications in the field of cyber security.
