We have a new opportunity for a Site Manager to join our Industrial Biomass team at our new site in Berwick Upon Tweed.
The Site Manager will be responsible for supervising the operations including LTHW, HTHW and the 1 x 12MW electric boiler plant and 3 x 6MW biomass boiler plant and associated equipment installed on site, managing the on-site boiler operators and third-party contractors to ensure efficient operations, and ensuring systems are operating in line with site KPI’s, maintaining high levels of compliance in all aspects of HSEQ.

The role will involve:
Supporting the Plant Manager in managing planned maintenance, attendance, testing, and record keeping ensuring compliance with regulations governing LTHW, HTHW, metering and high voltage equipment whilst assisting with any troubleshooting, technical queries, operational improvements and general support
Managing and facilitating the biomass fuel supply to the site, managing suppliers to ensure a continuous supply of correct specification fuel, compliant with RHI and emissions requirements
Ensuring operation, fuel supply, maintenance, and testing comply with Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme, and environmental permitting and recording progress and feeding back results to the Plant Manager
Ensuring the safe operation of HTHW boiler plant to comply with current regulations
Management of spares stock in a proactive manner to minimise plant ‘down time’ reporting stock levels to the Plant Manager, and facilitating agreed actions as required
Management of the systems regular compliance and testing regime
Upholding and ensuring a high level of Health and Safety management on site, encouraging a strong Health and Safety culture and adherence to H&S legislation and Group H&S policies including use of PPE, completion of risk assessments and method statements for specific tasks as required and escalating any serious issues or Health and Safety/compliance concerns to the Plant Manager
Accurate and detailed report and record keeping of parts stock, fuel supply, maintenance, testing, and conducting regular audits for quality and HSEQ purposes
Promoting and upholding a high level of house-keeping standards on site, in line with our ‘5S’ standard requirements and regular audit
Managing the planned maintenance works and repairs carried out by sub-contractors, including water tests, and ensure these are carried out by competent persons to the required standards
Line managing, coaching and developing direct reports ensuring that they are clear on their targets, their progress against targets and continually develop in their role
Management of sub-contractors for ongoing operation and maintenance or capital works/upgrades as required
Managing day to day relations with the clients' engineering and maintenance teams and maintain excellent level of communication, representing AMP at client meetings if required
What we are looking for:
An individual who is experienced in working with biomass boilers and biomass fuel as well having the ability to employ a strategic approach to developing what is a new division for the business, our successful candidate will also demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:
Technical/Engineering educational qualification
Health and safety training or qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH
Completed Boiler operation accreditation scheme (BOAS) qualification
Experience in HTHW heating plant, mechanical and electrical/controls engineering
Demonstratable experience of overseeing frontline mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
Committed and determined to ensure high operational and HSEQ performance across our industrial asset for 24/7 energy demand
Strong understanding of LTHW, steam, MTHW and HTHW and power generating plant equipment
Excellent engineering credentials and attention to detail, with a ‘hands on’ approach to problem solving
Good understanding of quality control to be able to routinely perform checks and take action to optimise asset availability
Good understanding of stock management and reporting
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and dynamic environment for a company which is at the forefront of helping UK Business decarbonise
Demonstratable experience in asset management and supervising high value heat and steam generating plant and equipment as well as operations and maintenance equipment of large industrial sites with a continual heat demand
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to build and manage teams and to build relationships with clients, contractual and sub-contractors in a high energy demand environment

Salary: Competitive salary to be discussed at interview.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours of Work
Normal working hours 8am to 5pm with 1-hour unpaid break each day
Average of 36.6 paid hours per week (excluding breaks)
Annualised hours 1903 per annum
Annualised hours start date 1st January each year
Shift Pattern
1st week- Monday- Sunday 08:00am – 17:00pm
2nd week Wednesday-Friday 08:00am- 17:00pm
3rd week Monday – Friday 08:00am-17:00pm
Overtime and On Call
This role will require periodically being on call to respond to heating outages, loss of service or emergencies as required out of hours and to support team as required out of hours
Additional shifts will be paid at basic rate. Additional hours worked outside of normal working hours responding to call outs will be paid at time and a half basic rate on weekdays and Saturdays, and double basic rate on Sundays. A minimum of 4 hours duration will be paid for a call out.
The on-call period is a 24-hour period from 8am to 8am
