Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Clinical Laboratory Operations, the Site Director has overall responsibility for personnel management and operational performance of their respective locations. They will ensure successful cross-departmental performance, capacity planning, quality metrics, and other site-specific goals.
Additionally, they will be responsible for their direct reports at their primary location and remote sites where applicable. The role includes all planning, implementation, operations and evaluation of programs, revenue analysis, budget management, and human resources management activities to ensure optimal turnaround times, quality and profitable growth.
Position Objectives
Plans, coordinates, and directs the activities of their respective site to ensure efficient, effective, and economical utilization of space, personnel and other resources
Maintains a physical presence within assigned location and responds to requests for assistance; facilitates services, communication, and problem resolution; serves as a role model for staff
Plans and develops objectives and goals for the assigned location; ensures development, implementation, and administration of department policies, procedures, turnaround time, and quality; participate in long range planning and development
Assists in the development and maintains finance aspects for assigned location(s); prepares, secures necessary approvals, and manages operational and budgets; coordinates all purchases of supplies and minor capital equipment (for large capital purchases, works with the appropriate parties); directs business practices to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate patient results; takes appropriate action to ensure services are within budget guidelines
Ensures that all departments are staffed adequately for the scope of service and turnaround time (as allowed/approved by budgeting); acts as a resource for supervisor personnel to help resolve human resources problems; interviews, hires, counsels, and/or terminates subordinate personnel; performance reviews and planning for direct reports
Participates in, promotes, and provides educational and professional activities; remains current on technical, managerial, and financial aspects for assigned departments; ensures development and implementation of an educational/staff development plan; works with supervisory personnel to ensure participation in educational/staff development plan
Education, Experience & Qualifications
Ph.D. Degree or equivalent preferred
Five (5) or more years’ experience in a clinical laboratory with progressive responsibility preferred
Three (3) or more years’ experience managing staff, protocols , policies and procedures in a clinical laboratory
Proven success increasing and maintaining client and employee satisfaction
Proven experience in process improvement within the laboratory function
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function independently in a matrixed organization
Ability to make sound decisions under stressful situations
Demonstrated success in leading team members to reach goals and objectives
Demonstrated success in meeting high performance standards with regard to work quality and quantity
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communication with all employees and clients
