We have an exciting new opportunity for a committed, motivated and clinically expert renal nurse to apply for this Band 6 post on Peter's Ward within the renal directorate at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre opened at the Hammersmith Hospital in November 2005 and has become the largest facility of its kind in Europe. We have 4 inpatient wards totalling 71 beds (12 HDU) and a programmed investigation unit offering a ward attender/day case service of 18 beds. The service also has an acute haemodialysis unit, 9 satellite dialysis units, peritoneal dialysis and home haemodialysis teams nurse led chronic kidney disease team, Live Donor Team, a rapid assessment unit and 2 outpatient clinics looking after over 3,100 patients on renal replacement therapy. Peter's Ward is a 24 bedded inpatient ward caring for a variety of renal patients with complex medical and surgical needs. This post is pivotal in providing visible nursing leadership within a multi-professional team. The post holder must be a good team leader who is willing to assist and deputise for the Ward Manager when required. You will need to have excellent communication and negotiation skills as you will be working in collaboration with the wider MDT. The post holder must have a minimum of 3 years' experience within a renal setting, and should have a post registration Renal Course and Mentorship/Student Assessor qualification or be willing to attain this at the earliest opportunity as we are committed to your professional development.
The post holder must have the ability to motivate the team to provide high quality patient care. As part of the dedicated nursing team the Sister/Charge Nurse will be expected to delegate responsibility in the clinical area and support staff by assessing care needs, and evaluating acuity on every shift. As a role model you will be encouraged to empower staff, participate in innovative ideas using evidence based nursing practice.
