Overall purpose
The purpose of the role is to oversee the management of the Student Information System (SIS) at Regent College London. The role requires a detailed understanding of student record systems, with a particular focus on UNIT-e. The SIS Systems Manager will work at the intersection of Technology and Registry, ensuring seamless integration and functionality of the SIS to support the college’s academic and administrative operations.
The primary focus of the role will be to support critical Business As Usual (BAU) needs of the organisation. This will involve working with the Registry team on operations and regulatory returns, such as HESA Data Futures. In addition, the SIS Systems Manager will support administrative tasks within the system, such as data integrity checks, and some configuration changes.
With their experience, the holder will also collaborate with in-house developers to support the implementation of new features and enhancements, ensuring the system meets the evolving needs of the institution without negatively. This includes working closely with key stakeholders to identify and address system requirements, facilitating improvements in curriculum management, and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations such as HESA Data Futures.
The role requires an individual who is not a developer but is highly comfortable working with technology. The holder will have an opportunity to make a real contribution to delivery and operational efficiency at Regent College London.
Specific duties and responsibilities
the day-to-day operations of the Student Information System, ensuring it meets the needs of the college.
in-depth knowledge and support for UNIT-e, including troubleshooting, user support, and system optimization.
with key stakeholders across Technology and Registry to identify system improvements and address user needs.
closely with developers to plan and implement new features and system enhancements, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
the institution’s regulatory obligations, such as HESA Data Futures, by ensuring data accuracy and system compliance.
improvements to curriculum management through system enhancements and data analysis.
with administrative tasks within the SIS, such as data integrity checks, and configuration changes.
to the design and development of new tools and features to support the college’s strategic objectives.
as a liaison between non-technical stakeholders and the development team, translating requirements and ensuring clear communication.
Additional duties:
updated with the latest trends and best practices in MIS and higher education technology.
training and support to staff members on the best practice use of the SIS.
to continuous improvement initiatives within the Technology and Registry functions.
Person Specification
EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIES
Essential:
experience managing student information systems, particularly UNIT-e.
understanding of the higher education sector and its regulatory environment.
collaboration and communication skills, capable of working across various departments.
ability to manage system administration tasks and user support.
Desirable:
experience in managing developer teams, with a focus on both BAU and project-based tasks.
experience in managing complex development work around critical live systems.
with HESA Data Futures and other regulatory reporting requirements.
experience in a similar role within a higher education institution.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
