Job Title:Shipping Controller & Account Manager Location:South Manchester Salary: up to £35,000 DOE HYBRID WORKING:2 days from home Reed are delighted to be working in partnership with a growing organisation with a global coverage & part of a larger group function who are now looking to recruit a Shipping Controller & Account Manager to join their small team. Role Overview: As aShipping Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing our international shipping operations. Your responsibilities will include overseeing both import and export processes, coordinating multi-modal transport, handling customs
clearances, and maintaining accurate stock records. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for logistics, this role is perfect for you. Regarding the Account Manager side of the role, you will overall be responsible in supporting the growth of the business through savvy commercial acumen and upselling / business development. This role is not a 'traditional' sales position,
but does have inside sales responsibilities & duties. Key Responsibilities:
International Shipping Management:
Collaborate with carriers, shipping agents, and freight forwarders to ensure smooth transportation of goods worldwideReview carrier performance and negotiate rates to optimise shipping efficiencyHandle all aspects of import and export procedures, including customs documentation and complianceStay up-to-date with international shipping regulations and industry trends
Customs Clearances:
Liaise with customs authorities to facilitate timely and accurate clearance of shipmentsPrepare and submit customs declarations, ensuring compliance with local and international regulationsResolve any customs-related issues or discrepancies
Multi-Modal Transport:
Determine the most efficient shipping methods and routes for various productsCoordinate land-based, sea, and air transport to meet delivery deadlinesSupervise loading and unloading activities for shipping vessels
Stock Control and Audits:
Monitor inventory levels and track stock movementsConduct regular stock audits to verify accuracy and identify discrepanciesCollaborate with warehouse staff to optimise stock management processes
Qualifications:
At least 3years of experiencedealing with multi-modal international transport2 years plus sales / inside sales / account managementexperience (preferably within freight / logistics)Familiarity withimport and export customs proceduresandUK VAT rulesrelated to international shipping Skills and Attributes:
