IPL operates in a fast paced and dynamic environment and has significant growth plans, acquiring four businesses within the past year.Operations Team is looking to fill the role of Shift Manager in their West Yorkshire facility based in Castleford. The job holder with be a great people manager, focused on achieving the targets and presenting a proactive approach to ensure high performance of the Team. Reliability and independence in decision making are one of the attributes expected.
Main duties and tasks
Working 80% on shop floor and 20% off
inclusive of generating shift reports
Leading by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is maintained at all times
Ensuring health and safety, production volume, quality and product safety standards maintained
As the Shift Manager you will be involved in continuous improvement within the production operation
Achieving daily and weekly production plan to maintain customer service levels
Identifying and facilitating any training needs and be actively involved with training and upskilling staff
To drive improvement in planned machine rates, manning levels and to minimise handover times
Ensuring the team obtain and comply with health and safety policies and procedures at all times to ensure a safe working environment
Liaising and coordinating with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning, resource and skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications
Undertaking performance management and taking responsibility for team members, conducting appraisals and giving direction to aid good people performance
Leading and motivating the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced
Contributing in the improvement of working procedures by constantly looking for solutions to ensure the best productivity results for the employees machinery and ensuring compliance with procedures, operating instructions and work instructions
Maintaining a consistent production flow ensuring employees are fully trained and working efficiently
Managing people throughout the full employment cycle
Skills & Experience:
Excellent communication skills at all levels, including internal and external communication
Good organisation skills with attention to detail
A proven ability to work as part of a Management team
Good analytical and numerical skills (Microsoft Office Package proficient)
Manufacturing experience minimum 5 years
