Elvet Recruitment are assisting a leading Civil Engineering and Groundworks subcontractor, who are looking to add a SHE Manager to their team as a succession plan for an upcoming retirement, requiring a handover leading into next year. The business operates primarily within the North of England, covering; industrial, education, commercial, housing and public construction.



This role will focus on providing Health, Safety and Environmental Support and Advice throughout the company, as well as ensuring legal compliance, policies/procedures and helping arrange training to staff through preferred suppliers.



Below are a list of the duties you will be expected to carry out, you will also be responsible for other ad-hoc duties:




  • Ensuring the company operates in the Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures that comply with the related laws and regulations

    • Health and Safety at Work act 1974

    • The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

    • Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015

    • The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002/ EH40 2005

    • Environmental Act 2021



  • Manage Applications and renews for Health and Safety accreditations

  • Manage and complete online Client/ Main Contractor builders profile systems.

  • Complete relevant sections in tender pre-qualification questionnaires.

  • Deliver new starter HSE day 1 inductions

  • Manage and implement the Drug and Alcohol policy, arranging day 1 and random testing

  • Organising and managing occupational health medicals for employees



You will also be responsible for managing the following licenses, applications and documentation:




  • Wagon Waste Carrier Licenses

  • Complete applications for Section 106, 278 and 50 licenses

  • Develop RAMS for all works on site

  • Develop and writing lifting plans in line with LOLER, as well as managing the equipment inspection and testing schedules

  • Develop and write COSHH assessments in line with the 2002 and EH40/2005 regulations

  • Carry out and document noise/vibration surveys



To be considered for the position you will ideally hold the following skills/experiences:




  • Experience of working in the construction industry is essential

  • Ideally you will have worked in a civils subcontracting business

  • An understanding of Health and Safety within the Construction and Civils sectors

  • NEBOSH qualified

  • Temporary Works Coordinator�

  • Lifting Operations Appointed Person

  • NASC Scaffold Inspection qualified
