Job Title: Sexual Health Programmes ManagerResponsible to: CEOResponsible for: Naz’s sexual health programmes. You will also be line managing several of Naz’s programmatic staff.Job Location: Naz office, Hammersmith, London, W6 9DTTerms: 2-year fixed-term contract with renewal possible The post will be offered with a 6-month probationary periodHours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time)Normal working hours 9am – 5:30pm with some evening and weekend working This role is hybrid, including several days a week working from home and several working from the office, with some travel within London 25 days annual leave per year, plus bank holidaysBackgroundNaz is the sexual health charity dedicated to people experiencing better sexual health. We do this because there’s a big gap in the sexual health outcomes of Black, Asian and Global Majority communities compared to the general population. Everything we do works to reverse this trend.We are a growing charity whose sole mission is to put a spotlight on the disproportionate impact of poor sexual health on ethnic minority communities and provide an evidence base of interventions that are relevant and workable, to address this.We are looking for an exceptional Sexual Health Programmes Manager who can provide leadership to all our programme delivery teams, monitor and manage progress, feed into the fundraising agenda and demonstrate that we are making an impact in the very communities we are set up to serve.There are a number of programmes at Naz which cut across sexual health promotion, psychotherapy, LBGTQ+ sexual health well-being, support services for people living with HIV, group and peer support activities.Naz's services fall broadly into 3 domains:a) Sexual Health Promotion, including HIV Testing, outreach and work with Faith groupsb) Mental Health and Wellbeing, including HIV Support and Counsellingc) Policy and ResearchJob purposeThe Sexual Health Programmes Manager will support the Chief Executive in the strategic management of Naz providing leadership to the teams responsible for sexual health prevention and support programmes for people living with HIV. You will ensure effective delivery of programmes using robust impact and evaluation measures, which in turn will support the Naz ambition to influence public policy and practice through providing examples of evidence-based interventions.To be successful in the position, you will have a strong programme management background and be comfortable managing project staff. You will be strategic your thinking, and will be an excellent communicator with demonstrable practical understanding of project management techniques and delivery of programmatic targets.You will be an integral part of Naz’s leadership team, and your role will be critical in making significant contributions to the development and implementation of Naz’s current and future Strategic Plans. This role will be line managed by the CEO, and will be part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) at Naz. Due to our delivery of sexual health services to predominantly Black, Asian and other Global Majority service users, this post is only open to people who have Black, Asian, or another Global Majority ethnicity (or dual/multiple heritage including this). (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, part 1)Job Functions / Responsibilities 1) Programme development, management and technical support1.1) To support the CEO to create an ambitious and realistic programmes strategy which will ensure all programmes are delivered on time, on budget1.2) Manage and track all aspects of funded programmes, ensuring staff and Senior Management Team are aware of progress, success and opportunities for development1.3) Provide and facilitate professional development training to delivery staff and volunteers, ensuring statutory obligations are met and managed1.4) Prepare regular updates and reports on programmes and programme proposals in the pipeline, including performance of programmes to the Board of Trustees and the SMT2.1) In collaboration with the Finance Manager ensure all programme finances are fully managed2.2) Ensure all programmes have monitoring metrics, which are met and managed in a timely manner2.3) Produce regular programme tracking and management reports prepared for SMT, CEO and the Board of Trustees, including alerting the CEO to major problems and risks in a timely manner2.4) Assess and provide regular training for staff and volunteers in order to ensure all statutory obligations are met 3) Communications, External Relationships and Publications3.1) Prepare regular programme and grant updates and reports for internal and external use, including the website, newsletters, quarterly reports, annual reviews and board papers3.2) Review and/or write high quality programme documents for external dissemination3.3) Work with the Fundraising Manager to support development of new funding streams. This will include identifying new HIV, Mental Health and Sexual Health Promotion programmatic opportunities, preparing and reviewing innovative propositions3.4) Build and strengthen effective working relationships with clients, funders, potential funders, other donors, government agencies, policy groups and other institutions3.6) Work closely with the Communications Manager, to develop and an online presence to promote conversation, debate and effective tools to improve Sexual Health knowledge, attitudes and behaviours within Naz target communities.4) Other Responsibilities4.1) Research relevant developments in the sector, particularly in relation to Naz strategic priorities4.2) Identify issues of strategic significance in relation to programme, statutory requirements and potential high impact partnerships for consideration by the CEO4.3) To be the designated Data Protection Officer for the charity4.4) Recruit and manage consultants, volunteers and interns as required, ensuring that they have an understanding of principles and values of the organisation alongside the needs of service users, particularly those living with and affected by HIV. This will include managing the development of role descriptions, advertising, and the selection process in conjunction with service managers.4.5) Ensure confidentiality of data, particularly when dispatching data to external agencies, and have an
awareness/understanding
of data protection issues, in line with Naz’s Information Governance Policies and Procedures4.6) To carry out the duties of the post with due regard to Naz policies such as Equal Opportunities, child protection and adult safeguarding, data protection and health and safety4.7) Maintain and keep up to date knowledge, skills and undertake continuing professional development in accordance with personal and service needs within a framework of a personal development plan4.8) Work some evenings and weekends as required and provide occasional office cover, to welcome service users, and answer general enquiries4.8) Any other duties as reasonably required by the CEOPerson SpecificationYou will have strong project and relationship management skills, be experienced at appraising proposals and people, have sophisticated analytical skills, and be committed to making a difference.1) A degree or professional qualification in public health (preferred), social development or other relevant discipline and/or at least five years senior level experience in managing programmes and grants in a charity, public sector, donor or private sector organisation2) Due to our delivery of sexual health services to predominantly Black, Asian and minority ethnic service users, this post is only open to people who have Black, Asian, or another Global Majority ethnicity (or dual/multiple heritage including this). (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, part 1)3) Proven management and/or training experience, including the ability to innovate, manage risks and motivate and harness the skills of others4) Proven experience of providing technical leadership and programme management support to clients and stakeholders5) Ability to identify needs and opportunities, and assess and challenge staff/SMT objectively and constructively6) Ability to write concise high-quality reports for different audiences7) Ability to engage and communicate effectively with diverse individuals from a wide range of backgrounds; ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders from service users to commissioners and sector wide partners8) Skilled at working and communicating at multiple levels within an organisation (with staff, managers, and Board members) and able to manage the complexities and conflicts that may arise9) Proven experience in negotiating successful mutually beneficial outcomes for internal and external relationships10) Experience of representing an organisation externally at meetings, conferences11) Ability to work both independently and in a consultative and collaborative manner12) Excellent organisational and planning skills, including attention to detail13) Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines14) Experience of bringing innovative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation and its services15) Confident with IT, including the ability to use Microsoft Office packages16) Please note that this role is subject to an enhanced DBS check (adults and children)17) Experience in the sexual health or health promotion field (this may be within the UK and/or overseas)18) Understanding of issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals as well as an awareness of issues for those questioning their sexuality / gender identitySend me alerts about jobs like this.Please enter your email address to continue setting up an email alert for similar jobs to this one.
