Sexual Health NurseNHS AfC: Band 6Job overviewAn opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time (part-time will be considered) B6 Sexual Health Nurse to work across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.Leicester Sexual Health Service is a 6-day a week service and the post holder will be required to be flexible to service needs including working evenings and one Saturday a month.The role will support the provision of care within the Sexual Health Service, working as part of a team and independently in nurse-led clinics. The post holder will provide a quality and holistic service and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs of service users.The post holder will be an enthusiastic and innovative individual, possessing excellent communication and organisational skills including a non-judgemental attitude whilst offering screening for sexually transmitted infections, providing advice, information, counselling and education on contraception and sexual health issues.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will support the provision of care within the Sexual Health Services and work as part of a team and independently in nurse-led clinics and outreach community settings as required. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesPlease see the Job Description and Person Specification for further details, a summary is below:To be responsible for setting high standards of care within the resources available and to review and monitor these on a continuous basis, through the process of audit, to ensure continuing quality of care.Contribute to the delivery of evidence based personalised and compassionate care placing quality at the heart of specialist practice.To undertake nurse‑led clinics to ensure continuity of service provision.Assess the contraceptive need of the client, taking a comprehensive medical, gynaecological, sexual and social history as appropriate.Offer testing for sexually transmitted infection, issue treatments as required, pregnancy testing and contraception provision of all methods including LARCs.To work within Patient group directions criteria for contraception and relevant treatments for sexually transmitted infections.To fit and remove sub-dermal implants competently or to work towards thisTo fit and remove intrauterine devices competently or to work towards thisTo maintain high quality clinical electronic and paper records as applicable respecting confidentiality at all times.Person specificationQualificationseither / or both a DFSRH or a STIF QualificationQualificationsNursing or midwifery qualification and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery CouncilFSRH Diploma or equivalent contraceptive courseTraining or Significant Demonstrable ExperiencePost registration experience of working in integrated sexual healthAbility to assess and evaluate complex sexual health conditionsEmployer certification / accreditation badgesYou must have appropriate UK professional registration.This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
