Sensors/Electromechanical Components Lead Engineer

In this specific contract position, you'll be working hand-in-hand with our dedicated automotive clientele. Due to the nature of the role, we will only be able to consider candidates with direct Automotive work experience. We are only able to consider candidates on an inside IR35 basis.
What You'll Do:
Working as a consultant, you will support our Customer’s existing engineering quality resource, you will be responsible for driving an increased throughput of automotive projects through to robust resolution.
We are actively seeking experienced Automotive Project Engineers in the following disciplines:
Sensors/Electromechanical Components
Each project will be progressed using defined problem-solving methodology, predominantly 8D process, from problem definition through to engineering release.
Responsibilities:
Our Customer has existing quality improvement teams in each of the engineering specialisms (Body, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, and sensors/electromechanical components). The Sensors/Electromechanical Components Lead Engineer will take ownership of issues related to exhaust systems and sensors, including hardware and diagnostics for Lambda, UHego, and NOx sensors. You will focus on diagnostics, corrosion issues, and ensuring robust resolution of sensor and electromechanical component issues.
Specific duties include:
Leading problem definition activities for sensor and electromechanical component issues.
Conducting data-gathering activities to understand possible contributing factors and root causes.
Building detailed understanding of exhaust and sensor systems functionality.
Reporting transparently on quality issue status.
Leading cost/warranty reduction initiatives related to sensors and electromechanical components.
Recommending improvements to engineering standards for current and future sensor components/systems.
Creating and maintaining service-related documentation.
Who We Are Looking For:
Proven problem-solving skills in sensors and electromechanical components.
Technical knowledge related to exhaust systems, Lambda, UHego, and NOx sensors.
Familiarity with automotive fault-finding and diagnostics.
Understanding of corrosion issues and their impact on sensor performance.
Experience in testing and validation of sensors and electromechanical components.
Ability to engage and manage stakeholders at all business levels.
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
Full valid UK driving license.
It Would Be An Asset If You Also Have Experience In:
Six Sigma, 8D, 5-whys, FMEA, DFMEA processes.
Knowledge of CAD tools such as Catia V5/V6 (for specific roles) plus vis-mockup/digibuck.
Agile delivery process experience, including Scrum approach and Jira toolset.
Requirements capture/updates, DVP & component testing.
Expertise in log-taking using tools such as Wireshark, CANalyzer etc.
Certification in a formal problem-solving methodology.
Skills:
