Position: Youth Offending Service (YOS) Officer

Location: London Borough of Lambeth

Salary: Up to �32 per hour

About the Role: Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of the London Borough of Lambeth for experienced and dedicated YOS Officers to join the Youth Offending Service team. Main Purpose of Job: The YOS Officer will manage a caseload of youth justice cases, working innovatively with young people from diverse backgrounds. The role involves engaging young people, their families, and other professionals to assess, develop, and deliver interventions and activities that support personal and social skills, and participation in society. YOS Officers contribute directly to youth offending service outcomes by creatively engaging young people subject to youth justice orders or at risk of anti-social behavior, crime, becoming NEET, and substance misuse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively engage with young people from diverse backgrounds at all stages of case management.
• Gather, analyze, and assess information to manage risk, re-offending, and safety/well-being accurately using appropriate tools.
• Create bespoke intervention plans with young people and their families and regularly review them for suitability and effectiveness.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team, managing all aspects of youth justice cases including non-compliance issues.
• Prepare and attend professional meetings, such as strategy meetings and child protection conferences.
• Write high-standard reports for Youth Magistrates and Crown Courts, presenting them confidently in person when required.
• Undertake regular court duties, providing advice and support to young people, their families, and the judiciary.
• Conduct bail assessments and produce bail support packages for court.
• Lead in liaison with key agencies such as CAMHS, Health Visitors, and Schools.
• Convene and chair multi-agency meetings.
• Play a leading role in improving practice and quality of assessments and plans.
• Maintain precise case management records in accordance with local and national standards and data protection guidelines.
• Participate in the development of team/project/service plans to reflect the needs of young people.
• Prepare, deliver, and participate in group work programs.

Requirements:

• Degree in Effective Practice in Youth Justice (PCEP) or a recognized professional qualification in Social Care or Probation with demonstrable post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in direct work with young people and their families.
• Substantial experience working with young people at risk of crime, ASB, NEET, SEND, and exploitation.
• Experience in assessment, planning, and delivering interventions/programs for young people.
• Strong understanding of youth justice legislation and principles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
