Hi there!We're looking for a UX Designer to join the growing team at Heroic Labs. We build game tech for the video games industry and we have three main products. An open-source, distributed, highly scalable game server called Nakama. A Live Operations server called Satori and a Game Development Kit called Hiro.We are simplifying the lives of game developers and providing incredible technology that can be integrated into any game on any platform as easily as possible. Nakama is already powering many games, including multiple titles on the Top 50 of the app stores.There is an ever-growing open-source community with many contributors, and third-party plugins and projects. Satori has been in early access with multiple studios since June 2022 and will be in general availability early 2023. Hiro is in development with partner game developers. Heroic Labs works with independent developers, mid-tier, AAA game studios and many publicly listed Fortune 500 companies across the globe to power games that individually make over 90 billion requests per month into our infrastructure.We lean towards candidates who have professional experience designing sophisticated realtime dashboards embedded in products and custom UI frameworks - however if you don't have experience but feel up to the challenge, please do apply!About The RoleWe are looking for a user-experience (UX) designer to initially work with our product Satori, which is a Live Ops server for the video games industry. We have been developing the product for a few years and it has now achieved technical excellence and is fully formed from a functional perspective. The user interface works well for our technical customers but as we go into the mass market we need to transition the product UX to be fit for purpose for product managers as well as the C suite.The UX designer will need to understand the product and be responsible for conceiving and conducting user research with our existing customers, translating their issues into solutions, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes. The UX designer will be expected to re-design the overall UX of the product and iterate through user-testing.Things You Might DoTranslate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiencesIdentify design problems and devise elegant solutionsMake strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and featuresTake a user-centred design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designsCollaborate with your colleagues, other teams and stakeholdersAbout YouYou love building new things. You tinker with new technologies. You love helping developers be more productive. You love automation. You love helping customers solve problems.Five or more years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions in B2B softwareExpertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, Zeplin, Invision, Figma etc is a must.Development experienced in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are also a must.Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutionsA clear understanding of the importance of user-centred design and design thinkingAbility to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligentlyAbility to clearly communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to stakeholdersExcitement about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and stakeholders via a distributed model, to regularly deliver design solutions for approvalPassion about resolving user pain points through great designExcellent written, verbal communication and presentation skillsExcellent analytical and problem solving skillsOpenness to receiving feedback and constructive criticismThe ability to ‘think small’ and execute for the highest valueBonus if you have:Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or VueJs/Ember).Experience in the Video Games industryExperience with Live Operations in the video games industryExperience with working with very technical people (who may not see a UX design issue for less technical people)Demonstrable prioritisation skillsShow a keen awareness of worldwide innovations, trends and competitive landscapesAbout Heroic LabsFor the past seven years, Heroic Labs has been on the forefront of providing cutting edge technology to the games and entertainment market.
