a Senior Test Engineer to join us for a 12-month fixed term period. As the Senior Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing approaches, plans, and evidence that any change is delivered in accordance with the requirements. A key part of the role will be to manage the test team, including managing all duties of the Test Team Lead in their absence.You’ll also be responsible for creating test plans, executing existing test scripts, and managing the defect cycle to ensure that the software is fit for go-live as well as acting as an assurance gateway ensuring that any change of business process or the technical solution is fit for purpose and managing the acceptance process into the operational business areas. Could you fit the bill? Working flexibly, you'll spend most of your time working from home, with one day a week spent in the office (so living within a commutable distance to Salford Quays, Manchester / Haywards Heath, West Sussex would be perfect). But of course, it’s your choice - if you prefer to be in the office more - that's good with us too.
We'd love to have you on the team if: You love testing and have extensive experience of software testing web applications.You have a knack for problem solving and understand automation testing.You have experience of working within the Insurance sector (home or motor insurance would be highly advantageous).Making it happen. TogetherWhat’s involved:Manage the regression testing cycles in absence of Test Managers, act as point of contact in absence on Products Portfolio Test Managers.Produces and publishes testing metrics including defects stats for every sprint.Works with relevant SA, BA, and PO to understand details of the product that they will working on both architecturally and business process based.Defines and creates test cases from analysis using PBI’s and acceptance criteria.Produces test scripts, materials, and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services. Amends existing test scripts using existing wireframes.Executes pre-existing test scripts and manages entire testing cycle working along with Business Stakeholder.Manage the defect process, working with key stakeholders to identify, prioritise and resolve defects.Attend defect discussion calls, backlog grooming session, and confidently handle challenging questions from developers/stakeholders.Provides business assurance by providing evidence of tests carried out to ensure fitness against purpose & business requirements.Identify and feedback any potential improvements to both the organisations business and technology architecture.Manage relationships with the business areas to ensure that change is accepted by the business before being deployed live.Work with key business stakeholders to identify ways that the results of change initiatives can be fully tested for fitness against purpose.Work with development & analysis teams and other suppliers to help them ensure that technical deliveries are fit for purpose.Work with databases/SQL queries and assists data and automation teams.Work with automation team and possess awareness of Selenium and C#/Java development languages.Work with Azure Data Pipelines and Power BI, possess awareness of Big Data.Experience & knowledgeKnowledge of FCA requirements (including individual responsibilities in relation to Consumer Duty).Significant demonstrable previous formal experience in software testing.Previous experience of working in Agile methodology (preferable SaFe) is mandatory.Knowledge of automation testing (specifically Selenium) and Java/C# is highly desirable.Advanced SQL knowledge is mandatory, advanced knowledge is desirable.Knowledge of API testing is desirable.Demonstrable experience of delivering software development projects in a general insurance or financial services environment.Solid experience of all stages of the software test lifecycle.Skills & QualificationsGood communication skills, both verbal and written.Good time management and organisation skills.Confident and clear communication skills, handles challenges with ease and great relationship builder.Quick learner and possess a go getter attitude, ready to act as SME of technically complex projects.Ready to work at various locations e.g. Channel Islands for short term if needed.Excellent time management and organisation skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems.Works independently and takes ownership of the entire testing cycle.Formal qualification in testing such as those offered by ISEB (Essential).BehavioursEmphasis on attention to detail and accuracy.Takes initiative to make decisions.Self-motivated and enthusiastic.An organised and proactive approach.Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.A flexible approach and positive attitude.Strives to drive business improvements to contribute to the success of the business.
