Alexander Steele are working in partnership with an established bakery manufacturer in Greater London to recruit a Senior Days Technician. This role is suited to an ambitious engineer looking to climb the ladder with a focus on Continuous Improvement and supervisor responsibilities.
Role + Responsibilities
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all engineering work complies with Good Manufacturing Practice, Health and Safety Legislation, and Company Standards. This includes overseeing adherence to regulations during maintenance, repairs, and installations.
Multidisciplinary Expertise:
Work across mechanical and electrical trades, providing support and guidance as a qualified and authorized technician.
Fault Diagnosis and Repair:
Assist Shift Engineers in diagnosing faults and conducting breakdown repairs on process equipment, manufacturing plant, packaging equipment, and site services. Supervise major works when necessary.
CMMS Management:
Serve as a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) super user, contributing to the improvement of the maintenance strategy to achieve 'World Class' asset performance.
Deputy Role:
Act as deputy to the Engineering Planning & Compliance Manager for planned maintenance and statutory compliance, ensuring all activities are carried out effectively.
Maintenance and Upgrades:
Support the Engineering Planning & Compliance Manager in delivering planned maintenance, modifications, installations, and upgrades to machinery and site services.
Resource Allocation:
Collaborate with the Planning & Maintenance Manager to understand daily engineering priorities and allocate resources efficiently.
Supplier Liaison:
Communicate with suppliers regarding plant or machinery issues, updating documentation and drawings as necessary to maintain accurate records.
Project Management:
Proactively participate in project work, including the installation and commissioning of machines and equipment within your authorized skill level.
Change Management:
Drive engineering culture towards world-class performance by positively influencing the change management process.
Employee Development:
Support and coach other employees, such as Manufacturing Technicians, in shared or autonomous maintenance to achieve operational and personal targets.
Continuous Improvement:
Work with multi-functional teams on Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, utilizing agreed techniques to improve production processes and minimize downtime while enhancing safety and quality performance.
Training and Development:
Undertake training and up-skilling programs as directed by business needs to stay updated on technological advancements and maintain a high skill level. Aspire to become the site engineering plant specialist.
Shift Handovers:
Ensure comprehensive handovers between shifts, including engineering, manufacturing, or stores, to maintain continuity and efficiency.
Duty Manager Responsibilities:
Fulfill the role of Duty Manager as per the rostered cycle, which may include chairing or attending daily performance meetings.
Flexibility:
Be prepared to undertake any other duties relevant to the role as required by the business, demonstrating adaptability and versatility.

Circa £60,000 salary
